What about your dreams mean, how do we understand?

Many people dream very interesting dreams, sometimes like films, sometimes like horror. What do they mean in our life and can it help us?Do you believe in your dreams?When you sleep, how often have a dreams?Are there predictiously dreams?I am looking for your opinion.

I just joined a group a few weeks ago that look at each others' dreams and discuss possible meanings. Though there are some universal symbols (Jungian archetypes, for example) I would think that one's culture and life would be a better guide than such generic dream guides.
