Recently, I read in a magazine, an experience of a girl with migraine. She was working in an office and one day, when she was suffering from this migraine, there came a saree seller (Some companies allow these salesmen in leisure times). So, she started to see all the varieties and colors in her search of taste and surprised to see that her migraine was gone. When she was suffering from the same migraine again, she immediately went to shopping and it proved success. She declared that migraine can be easily driven away when you do something that really interests you. So, why not try it?

Heh, my boss won't let me go shopping anytime. What has helped with most of my migraines is caffeine.

You know, come to think of it, it first started with my computer operator job in the 1990s. I was so afraid that I was having a seizure relapse because it was similar to a grand mal seizure I had when I was 14, about 1972. The doctors told me it was an "ocular migraine," with the visual effects without the pain. I forgot what they told me to take for it, but I don't think it was prescription. I had it off and on throughout the years, probably a dozen or so incidents, and only two or three was outside the job. I wonder if I can claim disability since I am obviously allergic to doing a job

Yes! Working persons cannot just leave like that for a relaxation. What I learn here is, that head aches for working personals may be due to work stress and should not be confused with migraine. What about you? Do you have migraines outside your office premises too? How long will it last?

It sounds more to me like her headache was a tension headache, not a migraine. When I get a migraine, there is nothing that can get rid of it except a combination of caffeine and aspirin combined with lying down with a cold compress across my eyes - or else some prescription pain reliever. Different headaches have different causes and migraines are the hardest to get rid of because no one knows what causes them. I don't even know if the medical community has figured out what causes them. Tension headaches, however, are caused by stress and anything that can get your mind off your troubles and relax you will relieve this kind of headache. Sometimes when I get a headache and don't have access to an Excedrin I will grab a coke really quick, just to get rid of the headache. Of course, this only works because I don't normally drink coke.

Now I understand! What she got was mere head ache due to tension and so a deviation of mind relaxed her well and the head ache was gone. So, she mistook a stress head ache to be migraine. I think she is the type of exaggerating things ( as most girls do!). And thanks for your information about the caffeine and aspirin combination.Well, was it suggested by your doctor or your own findings?

It's the combination they use in Excedrin which is the strongest over-the-counter headache relief you can get here in the US. I don't know what country you are in...I know a lot of folks here on mylot are in India. Excedrin is one of the major brands here, though. Another thing I've learned over the years is yarrow, which is a wild herb that grows in much of the US. When I was growing up I used to pick yarrow flowers for my mother and she would tell me they were weeds. When I was an adult in college, I went on an expedition with my biology and geology professors and they told me yarrow was a natural pain killer. So when I had a headache one day, I picked some leaves and chewed on them. It was horribly bitter but the headache did go away.

I too am from India and I haven't heard about this Excedrin. Does it cure migraine quickly? Here in our country lot of people use to have a coffee for getting relieved from head ache. So, there must be something in it. And that is a new information about the yarrow herb. Did you share that with your friends?
