according to the dictionary a house is a structure used as a habitation of man...
while a home is a house where family is or a group of person lives where there is love ,care and respect for each other.
so,where are you living?

I agree with the dictionary. A house is not a home unless you make it that way. A house is just a structure to keep the rain off of you or a way to not get arrested for being a vagrant. When I first moved to my house it was scary, entirely white-walled place with no decorations. It didn't really feel like anywhere I belonged to until I put up my pictures and my posters. That's when it became a home.

Couldn't agree with you more rose. Absolutely right. A home should accommodate the human psyche of all those who live in it: peace, comfort, individuality. It's not the structure I return to after a hard days's work but a home I can be with my family and can be who we are.

That's why the old saying goes "home is where the heart is" - wherever you live in love and harmony is home, no matter how long or short a time you stay there.
We have moved many times in our married lives yet we always live in a home, within a short time of moving in we are fortunate enough (and work hard enough to) make it so :)

i got both! =) at least the definition of home is where there is love, care and respect for each other and not base on the presence of each family member... =)

Well the family where I came from, I considered it not a home because of the parents I have who don't respect their children. Sometimes I am so envious about other peoples family because they look so happy and their parents love them so much. My parents are not a good parents at all, but I do respect them despite their differences. Now that I have my own family, I will do everything to become a good parent to my children and call the place we live a "HOME".
