This is the 4th or 5th time that my husband's cell-phone got stolen. The only thing he could do is block the sim card.If this way it goes on the mass of people doing this wil get more desperate and wil end up in doing more bigger crimes.Since hubby is in MLM marketing he faces a hell lot of problem when he loses all the important numbers.Any suggestions please....

In this situation i can relate a hundred times.Your husband is not the only one whose cellphone was stolen. Me and my husband experience the same scenario when we visit my family in asia i will not try to be very specific with the country. Well, for me i was in a public tranportation being naive i did not have any idea that it is possible that my cellphone will be stolen coz it was in my pocket of my jeans and remember my pocket is so tight. All i know when i got home and i need to use my phone its gone and i was so upset. The same thing with my husband his cellphone was stolen during that time he was in the internet using the net.As soon as he was starting using the net and of course he loves games and his attention was on the games. There was a 2 kids around 16 years old and 18 years old tap his shoulder and point to the floor and they ask my husband that sir is that your money on the floor. And my husband said no,as soon as he bent forward and get the money on the floor coz he will gonna give it back to whoever is the owner of that money. Then all of the sudden his cellphone was gone, but at least his bag that contain his passport,atm,i.d. is still there they only get his cellphone. My husband was so upset. Then he talk to a guy in whom was working in the net during that time and he did not noticed anything coz during that time the net was so busy there were lots of customers in and out. Then the following moring we went to the police station and reported the incident. And the policemen shows us different photos of kids imagine teenage kids. The policemen said do not be decieve coz the kinda mobster used kids to this kind of strategy coz no one can think that a teenage kids are capable of doing this kind of things. The policemen suggested that next time if we will buy a cellphone we should install a jack.It is a device wherein you can track down your phone if someone still it. And better to be sure just get and insurance for your phone coz if it is stolen you can still rest assure that your insurance will take good care of it.

There is way to track or atleast disable your phone once its stolen so that it becomes useless to the person who stole it. Every cellphone has a unique 15-20 digit number, I guess you can see it near the battery component. Save that number and when it is stolen, call your service provider and give them that number. That locks out your phone and will be useless to the thief!! Atleast if you can't get it back, why let the thief enjoy using your phone right

My only suggestion would be to have the phone shut off, so that it can't be used. That would make a lot of sense, because whoever took it, might need a cell phone, but if it is shut off, then the cell phone would become useless to them, and then you would hope that they would do the right thing, and return it. There are honest people out there, but also dishonest, so it is hard to say, but if that would ever happen to me, I would be lost for one thing, and another, I would just contact Verizon and have it shut off so that it can't be used. Others might thing differently, but that is what I would do. Take care, and happy mylotting.

Some carriers allow their clients to save their mobile phone data online this way if your hubby's mobile phone is stolen you can always access the data. To trace your mobile phone there are GPS systems available with which you can see where your phone is.

Depending upon your carrier, there are options that will allow you to chase down your cell phone and even remotely wipe the information stored on the phone itself. Apple iPhone is one such product, Windows Mobile phones with the operating 6.5 or higher is another. While not perfect, this might help your situation. Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T all offer products that can track a phone on it's GPS chip, and you can track them online using your computer - the cost is between $4.99 and $9.99 a month. No matter what, always back up your information from your cell phone to your computer - Susteen offers a product that will do that for multiple phones.

Newer models of cellphones like the ones mentioned above can be tracked through a chip and GPS system. But with the old ones, like the Nokia old models, there is little possibility you can traced your old stolen or lost cellphones. The little possibility is through IMEI, but the process is so hard and tedious. The more easier option is to render the phone unit unusable by the user by letting the government agencies like National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) block the IMEI or serial number of the phone, but it does not guarantee you will trace where the cellphone is located, but only rendering it unusable by the new user (disabling the phone unit).

Most carriers will not track the phone on your behalf, either through GPS or through the IMEI - the GPS option will only work if you've set this up in advance of losing the phone or having it stolen.
