I am an avid Facebook user. I enjoy connecting with friends and family. One issue though. Everytime I log on, I am overwhelmed by all these invites and gifts from the games and applications that I recieve. So and so sent you a bushel of corn. Your friend wants you to play Happy Pets, etc... Do you get bogged down by requests? Do you feel obligated to accept these because they are friends and family? How do you feel about these niceties?

I usually spend 2-3hours on facebook everyday. I do play the games there. Regarding your problem, you can just ignore their requests/gifts if you don't like it. There is an option there where you can ignore all the requests. Usually I don't open the requests page, I just ignore them. :))

Well, if they are families or friends, I`ll approve it..I rarely open FB actually..only check friend request and some info about reunion etc. I never play game, but I am interested in creating quiz on FB. Some people say we can make money from creating quiz on FB, is that true?how?thank you

I use Facebook, but I am not obsessed by it like some people, and I don't use any extra stuff, such as all these applications that everyone seems to love, when I am on Facebook. It is just a waste of time, and creates new problems only, such as the ones you mentioned, so I avoid it completely.

I am quiet new to this site and I also find it a bit complicated due to this reason.. I find it even more difficult when I access facebook from my mobile phone....For this reason, I am not at all so frequent in the Facebook, but certainly I like to be on Facebook.Frankly speaking,I don't feel any addiction to it right now..As a beginner I find it a bit complicated,it may also be the reason. In fact,I heard many things about this site and most of my old friends have joined fackbook in the recent time and so it is becoming the only way to stay in touch with this friends..I like using some social networking sites, especially the Facebook, to say in touch with the people whom I know personally and are not so near to me at this moment.. Apart from it,I also play Farmville,it is a silly game, though, and do a lots of chatting.
But I just follow some norms, just to maintain some ambiguity as other unknown users of this sites may cause trouble,if I disclose all my facts. After all it is a social networking site and many people could access my accounts..For this reason,I don't prefer post my personal details like home videos or phone numbers.

I opened an account a long time ago, after several months, I got bored and never visited it again. There were so many requests from friends in the office and friends at home. What for? I can just pick up a phone and call them, or send sms on cell phone. What friends did mostly were posting their collection of pretty, funny and no subject pictures. I was expecting people using it to post blogs, to start a discussion, to shares knowledge. It does not happen there.

i am also fond of fb. i was an anti fb before because of their terms and all. but then, i learned to love it now. yeah there are also invites from my friends and family, but you know, if you don't like them you can just ignore. :) it's ok. it's not like if they sent you those invites or request you're obliged to accept it. :) just enjoy networking and connecting with friends. :)

I think Facebook is a force to be reckoned with and provides a valuable upgrade from many of the older social media sites.
It is hard to get any discussion started, by name, with anyone from Customer Support which irked me because I had a valuable suggestion for them, but did not want to put it on a blog or feeder for review without knowing the name of someone working with Facebook.
As for the games and such, I initially made some funny comments but have since elected to 'hide' many reported activities since, in my view they are a waste of time.
On the other hand, if I get an invite for a 'cause', I give it consideration and reply in my own way.
I once saw a 53 second video shared there of a man's head being severed (the last seconds of his life) with a small, yet sharp tool but by and large it is a way to keep in touch with some really good feeds that bring more thought than a quick and sometimes relentless twitter feed ;)
I have a page that covers some of my thoughts and the reported news on Facebook at the following page:

Feel free to share your thoughts with me there :)

Personally I believe facebook is very boring, I also enjoy connecting with friends and family but it is not attractive in comparison with other social bookmarking website. I like orkut the most, nicely structured, attractive, faster and secure.

I log in for like 5 minutes a day. I know people who are literally addicted to it. I don't accept invites for stuff like farmville, as there are shock stories about it, and also I am not fond of casual games.

I do log onto Facebook daily...at least once an hour. I like that I can connect with friends and family. I do play some of the games and I do accept them if I play that application. For example, if someone sends me something from Happy Pets an app that I don't participate in, I will just ignore it. I don't think there is anything wrong with ignoring it because for one I don't play with the app and second, they don't know if I accept it or not. And I am pretty sure they wouldn't care.

I didn't take those niceties... I politely reply them that I am not into games and gifts or some things in facebook but purely on networking and reconnecting with friends. I am affiliated to any applications in fb. I am not hook into games especially like most members do from students to professionals. I wonder how they are addicted to that.
