If you were given the chance to choose among the 14 past Philippine presidents who would you pick? and say give him another chance to lead the country. Of course you have to justify your answer.
I am sure that all 14 are not perfect but if I were to pick 1 and give him another chance. I would pick FVR. Why? Because during his time a lot of problems were solve, the energy crises being one of them. And during his time there were no military uprising so it was generally peaceful during his time.

I would definitely pick Erap as well because his time, rebellious group such as Abu Sayyaf and MILF were about to end due to his "all out war" policy. I think that is a very wise move because it will bring more investors to our country and tourists as well. I am from Mindanao and this time I feel how strong the forces of this rebels.

It's hard to say which is which because most presidents are just part of the Philippine's history. But based on the stories of my aunts, uncles parents, grandparents...they'd rather go for President Marcos--minus Imelda. But in my opinion, I think FVR did ok, but I'm not so sure about that because I was just in elementary when he was the president.

I will definitely NOT choose FVR - he sold all the Philippine's property and now they are all privatized. It is with him that began all the privatization of all the government agencies, and utilities company that we have today. He's done nothing but go abroad with his whole entourage but brings not a single job back to the Philippines. In his regime, Filipinos started going out of the country to work abroad.
For Me, much is said about the Marcoses, to the late president himself Ferdinand Marcos - But I think I would still give him the chance to rules this forsaken country of ours. all the others who preceded him, and those supercedes him may have done a little of something for this country but it is with his time that we had the best name in the world - it is with his time that foreigners would come to the country with out fear of being held up, kidnapped, etc. It is with Marcos' time that professionals are paid well in the country, that the gap between the rich and the poor is small, not a huge margin like what it is today.
With Marcos, tourism was great! Dollar to Peso exchange rate is of a small margin. Filipinos have work, we have exports! Now... we have more imports and our exports left are domestic helpers! The whole world sees us now as the nation of servants! Marcos have not allowed such, he did not allow other nations to think of filipinos as low class, low life forms like our recent presidents who only thought of themselves!

If given a 2nd chance, I guess I'd pick Magsaysay. According to my parents, Magsaysay was a real man of the masses. I don't have any more information about him but I'd still choose him because of the good things I've heard about him from my parents.

Hi zenki08!
For me the best is Ferdinand Marcos even though many filipino is against him, the Philippines became really prosperous on his time and the people are really disciplined. His performance and accomplishments are the best compare to other presidents and for me he is the most intelligent of all. Well, that is only my opinion. Thank you and God bless..

I think I would prefer Pres. Ramon Magsaysay because eventhough I didn't caught during his term but a lot of people especially those who had lived in the era of Mr. Magsaysay's presidency. I heard a lot of good things about Him and also read a lot of good and successful deeds of him. He was simple and very down-to-earth. This humble President shows the true value of love for the country and democracy. They said that whenever he's out, he never wears expensive clothes and extravagant wardrobes that will make him popular. Instead, he wears simple and likes to go by himself without plenty securities.

It's a pity that the choices are limited to the past Presidents. I would NOT pick anyone of the presidents I grew up to know about from Cory to GMA for reasons other would agree on.
I may be condemned for my choice but I would go for Ferdinand Marcos. Yes the twilight of his reign was dark, but I have always thought that the abuse of power should have been attributed to military officials and not to Marcos himself. The Golden Age of the Philippines where there was economic stability (an equal exchange rate of peso to dollar) and peace(a world title heavyweight fight was held in the Philippines, testament to the trust they have in our national security) was attained in his earlier years of reign.
Marcos' might have been corrupt but at the very least his plans were all beneficial, progress was evident. Has there ever been a president before or after Marcos who could have achieved what he has during those times? I would certainly say no. Marcos would have claimed the Spratley's and we would have had our own oil deposit, he would have claimed Sabah and we would have a larger territory, the Philippine territories in Japan would not have been sold (done by Cory) and we would not have had to endure much of the problems we have today.

I'm not really sure. I grew up when FVR was the president.
Anyway, based from history class, I'd like ramon magsaysay to become the president again. he has a great sense of empathy :) He'll know which bills would truly benefit the people, the common good. Not the deep pockets of those money- and power hungry politicians
