Just curious.
I am trying to check the price and style of the PSP player when the salesman suddenly ask me if I am buying it for my brother or for my son and what is the age of my son or brother. The question quite surprise me. What I did, I try to raised back the question to the salesman, is PSP player designed only for teens and is it only for boys?
After that, I was thinking it twice if PSP player is only really designed for teenagers and exclusively for boys, wherein, I am planning to buy one for me.

I don't think so. I've seen girls with PSP players before! I actually have a friend who is in her early 30s and has one. I myself have a Nintendo DS Lite. I don't think these hand-held video games are targeted just for boys or girls or for any specific age group. I see quite the wide variety of people using them!

Hi Jennlk: I have seen then too and they can enjoy it. In fact, when I was in my secondary a little girl kick my *ss when I play with her in a PSP, she was really good and she was like ten years old. She was the sister of a friend of mine. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day.

Absolutely not! My son and my daughter share one PSP and they both love it. I have 2 nieces who have their own PSP too. I myself, a mother, enjoy using it every now and then. My son and I finished Patapon together helping each other. My daughter enjoys playing Frogger, LocoRoco and most especially, Sponge Bob Truth or square. My 6 year old niece plays Crash Of The Titans almost everyday after school. When buying games for my kids, I even see girls of different ages checking the game list. So definitely, I don't think that PSP is only for teenage boys.

Psp's and all other consoles are just as much for females as males. They are also for any age group.
I'm a 33 year old female. I own a ps3, xbox 360 and also enjoy playing on my kids wii, ds and psp!

That is NOT true at all. Me and my sister both had PSPs and you can find them very cheap now. They are not exclusively for boys or teens, neither are any of the other game systems, xbox, xbox 360, ps1,2 & 3, wii... all are for whoever wants to play it... young or old. Most games u can check the ratings in the bottom corner and most are rated E for everyone. Also, I was quite good at the game and was beating boys LOL!

Well I don't think so. I own one and I'm a girl. They didn't tell me anything when I bought one. My sister also owns a psp. There's games out there for the psp that I think are more fitting for a girl than a guy. If they did intend to it make exclusively for boys..well they failed at it.

No, definitely not...you just got a salesman who leaped to conclusions. I guess it's still true that more boys play games than girls, but I think the gap is narrowing all the time. There are plenty of girls (and adults) who love their PSP. What ended up happening? Did you not buy one? Don't let one salesman following stereotypes dissuade you!

well the psp is mainly targeted for hardcore gamers and generally boys are the hardcore gamers. But if your daughter, sister or whatever is somewhat of a gamer then it is no problem.
ive personally recommend getting a psp if you want racing games, graphic rich games, or more in depth games. or a media player if that matters ( the screen is more bigger than a ipod so watching movies or videos is not a drag)
Fact: i am not a ds hater i have one. from what ive seen personally, there are not that much good racing games for the ds and yes mario kart ds is good but youll get tired of it for a day or two.
well of course there are more good games for the ds but there are also a lot of crapware with it. For every 10 good games ive seen there are at least double or triple of crapware being released.
well to sum it up this is basically it.
ds = casual gamer, just games not much video or music in mind. ( lacking of a realistic racing games worry me because their target is casual gamers)
psp = mid to hardcore gamer, jack of all trades. not many games are released but games released are great like the recent one mgs peace walker.

HI aira sheila: I agree with you. It's only that the stereotype always says that these are "boys games" so the sellers think that a girl won't be interested on playing with a PSP and they are wrong. I have known some girls that knows how to play with a PSP and they else have fun. Thanks for sharing with us this experience. Have a nice day.

I think its not really just for boys. Its for everyone that loves to play games. I just don't get why the salesman thinks its only for boys. He didn't even bother include you in the list. And you can do a lot more in PSP than just playing games. So its not exclusively for boys. Go buy one now.
