My son and I were on our way home from the store earlier today when we saw a baby bird sitting in the middle of our lane. This patch of road was outside of the development and luckily it was early enough that people weren't coming home from work yet so there wasn't a lot of traffic. I found a safe place to pull over nearby and went to shoo the bird off of the pavement. His momma was nearby screeching at me but baby hopped off into a grassy area and I shooed it a little farther in so I hope it stays off of the road. I'm guessing it was a new flyer who was taking a break because it looked fat and healthy to me. I was so glad that it wasn't injured because we've tried caring for injured or abandoned baby birds before and had no luck. I always know it's going to be a lost cause but I can't turn my back on a small animal that needs help, even if it makes my cats crazy. What do you do if you come across an injured animal? Not a dangerous one but something like a bird or a little rabbit.

mostly I'm rescuing cats... I currently have 6 feral cats in my house, 3 VERY feral ones, and 2 I would call semi-feral, and then there's Star...
I have to say that I would probably help them, maybe even capture them if I could, and we have a local wildlife rescue group I can call, because if I actually tried to nurse them myself, the cats really would be too much help (lets remember, I have over 20 of the beasts and 6 of them are feral...)
