I'm at the office typing away...Thank You by Secret Garden playing on the background. Comes the chorus, and suddenly, I miss the people at home...and my eyes mist. "Thank you for the Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays Everyday the whole year through Thank you for the fun days All the number-one days Battles-to-be-won days, too. I just want to say it Thank you for each day with you..." Beautiful, beautiful violin giving the song a melancholic sweetness.

Yes, they do! Especially when you just had a breakup. I remember listening to and watching Jessica Simpson's version of "Let Him Fly" when I went through a breakup. Eye swelling and runny nose was what I got in return. Being a music lover that I am, I really ENGAGE myself in the songs. Don't know if that's the right way to call/write it, but every song I listen to becomes a part of me. Songs do move me - whether to tears or to pure bliss lol

I think it's called "internalizing" the song. I do that most of the time, too. I listen well to the lyrics and see how it is relevant to me. And, yes, songs can move you to pure bliss! For me, I listen to music to de-stress.

It is indeed internalizing =) Songs are stories with beautiful melodies. I can never imagine myself living without listening to one.

Yup, I couldn't imagine my life without music, either. I also enjoy instrumental songs, because they convey a message without having to be verbal about it. I'm currently listening to Korean ballads. I don't understand most of them, but I'm feeling the sadness, the joy or the love of the singer singing. Sigh. Music is universal. It speaks to you no matter what language you speak.

Ahh. There is one song that never fails to make my eyes mist, and that's butterfly kisses - I really don't know why, but the lyrics is just so real and so heartfelt, and the music so perfect. I just can't stop crying once I hear the song.

Awww. that's actually a good idea, maybe I'll also do that in my wedding, and I have to make sure that I wear waterproof make up. LOL.

Oh, yeah! That song makes me cry a bucket every time! I am what they call a "Daddy's girl" so I really relate to the song. At my friend's wedding, she played that song while she was dancing with her dad, and by golly, there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd. Even the bride, and her dad, couldn't stop crying! A sadder song that makes me cry is Dance with my Father. :(

Yes, waterproof makeup is necessary! LOL... We were even made to release butterflies, so while they were dancing (and crying), there were lots and lots of butterflies fluttering about. Sigh, a beautiful wedding that was!

I haven't heard of that song, but, I'll try to search for it and listen. I may not be a parent yet, but, I sure feel that my parents missed me when I moved out of the house. I go home to them, often, and I feel that they wish I were still with them. I feel for all parents who feel that their babies have all grown up and living their different lives. Thanks for sharing and happy lotting!

There are sooo many songs that make me feel that way about certain things in my life. But, not always, are the tears sorrowful. Sometimes they are tears of joy.

Yup, sometimes, they are tears of joy. Especially when the songs remind us of wonderful event, or person even, in the past. Sometimes when we're so down, some songs make us feel hopeful about the future. Some songs, I call the "Me" songs tell of love lost, broken dreams and struggles to move on, like I am Who I was Born to Be By Susan Boyle, Try It On My Own by Whitney Houston etc. Thanks for sharing, and happy lotting!

Music is the language of the universe. Music can have a very deep effect on human hearts and it does touches our souls. Music has the power to make us smile, set our mood when we are low, make us forget our tensions and gives a positive energy to deal with this world. Also music sometimes touches us so deeply that we unknowingly get tears in our eyes. For me, yes, songs do move me to tears many times. For the songs remind me of my lost love and all such memories associated with her So I cant help crying at times. I just love backstreet boy's "Show me the meaning of being lonely".This song has moved me to tears for so many times.

Yes, I also believe that music affects us deeply. And, because these songs speak of love, happiness, hope, sadness - which everyone of us has experienced at least one time in our lives, we can relate to the songs so much. It is as if the song was written especially for us. Agree?

Songs definitly can move tears and a lot of other emotions. It depends on your situation you stay and the attention you give to the music at the moment you listen to some songs. I get moved my tears listening to the following songs like: I don't know how to love him (from the musical Jesucrist Superstar), the power of love (Jennifer Rush) or I will always love you (Whitney Houston). Many characteres may influence in coming up your tears: melody, voice of the singer, text.... Other songs may give you positive influence, force, energy or tireness...

right. most of the time, songs move us because we can relate to the lyrics of the song. so when our hearts are broken, we can be moved to tears when we hear sad love songs about lost love.

Aww, I hope that music heals your soul and keep you company while you're alone. I am alone, too, and currently, I still love being alone, but, sometimes, we just need to get connected with other people, because, we are social beings after all. Working far away from home is hard (I know because I miss the folks at home, too) and sometime). I remember there were times before that I would walk into ukay-ukay stores here in Manila, just to listen to the songs they play (because the owners are from Baguio, too, and play country songs - which are not played often here, but is very common at home). Or, I play the songs that I used to play when I was still studying - songs that I played when I was alone in my room. And it helps a little bit. Thanks for sharing, and have a nice day!

yes, that is right. there are songs that are so sad that they move us to tears. and, yes, when we are sad, we tend to listen to music that is likewise sad. i guess it is a human tendency to listen to sad songs when we are sad, because sometimes happy music can make us sadder. have you had any such experience?

Hi, Yes there are few songs, especially devotional ones make me cry. Even good instrumental music can make you cry. They have to be smooth and peaceful. When you hear them in your repose they draws the true self from inside you. You remember about all the good and pleasant things. You suddenly feel very grateful to God for granting you all these things and your eyes are filled with tears. thanks. God bless you

Yes, I totally agree! Most of the songs that make my cry are devotional songs - songs that make me cry out my heart to God. Sometimes, there are just things in our heart that we cannot to put words into, such that when praying, we do not know just how to tell these things to God. But, I find songs that describe exactly how I feel and say precisely the things in my heart I want to say. And sometimes, too, when my happiness is so overwhelming, I can only express my gratitude towards God through a praise song (I call it a love song to God). Thank you and God bless you! Have a nice day!

Yes quite often many songs move me to tears. Boulevard of broken dreams was one such song. I was a loner before so i used to hear that song as much as i can and as long as i could. That song was me and seemed as if it was made for me itself so i would listen it everyday before college, after college ,after eating, and before sleeping. It has become a part and parcel of my life now and i still love that song.

There are just songs that we cannot get tired of, right? Like when I like a song, I play it over and over again. Sometimes, I could be on a crying spree for a few minutes which could extend to a few hours just because I would listen to a song over and over. I do this sometimes when I'm hurting. And, yes, there are just songs that you feel like were written for you. Thanks for sharing.
