I am ashamed to say as a woman fast approaching 60 I love the odd chick-lit, fluffy book, and I also love books by Belinda Jones.
I was given this book several years ago by my eldest daughter, after she had sung its praises and had a mad desire to board a plane and set off for Capri straight away !!
As any chick-lit reader will know the cover of a book ( well sometimes you can judge a book by its cover !!) can be the thing that draws you to the book, and so it is with this book - a real 'girlie', glitzy cover that says 'read me' on the front!!
After a recent visit to the Bay of Naples and the wonderful island of Capri, I decided to re-read this little gem.
I am warning you now that this discussion comes with a wealth warning --- as reading this book will send you running to the travel agents to book the next flight to Italy and a trip to Capri!!
Belinda Jones's writing in this book contains vivid descriptions of the beautiful island. From these descriptions it is obvious that she has visited Capri and knows it well.
She captures the pure beauty of thie lovely island, I prticularly enjoyed reading it again after my visit - it makes you feel like you are actually there;and sitting in the garden in the English sunshine I can still soak in the feel and lifestyle of Capri. Ms Jones captures the simplistic charm and beauty , the steep mountains and pathways and the incredible view of the sea and harbour from the giddy heights. Most of all shec aptures the pure wonder of the Blue Grotto and the neon blue water.
So if you don't fall in love with the sexy Italian men - like Ringo and Luca - you will most definatly fall in love with the intoxicating Isle of Capri.
Well worth a read!!

Hi oldchem1 !
Don't be ashamed. I think there's lots of us 'boomers' out there that enjoy an occassionl chick-lit book and a bit of fluff in our life. Have you read any of Haywood Smith's books? They are based on the Red Hats Organization. A couple of her titles are: "The Red Hat Club", "The Red Hat Club Rides Again". I think you would love them. They are fluff, and they are hilarious! If you are looking for more light reading I also recommend Alexander McCall Smith's "The No. 1 Ladie's Detective Series". There are 10 or 11 of them so far, but they are a quick and very enjoyable read. Give them a try and let me know what you think!

I've read a couple of the lady detectives too, I enjoy them - I read anything to be honest, my daughter has just past on a nice pile of books for me to keep me busy!!

Just like you - I read everything, fiction or non... What was in that pile of books your daughter passed on?
By the way I've been reading some of your other posts and wondered what happened to that book club you were going to start? Did admin okay it? And if so how do I join up?

There is nothing to be ashamed at in liking Chick Lit! I read a large variety of books and made a huge point of steering clear of the chick lit on principal. But some of my favourite books are now in that catagory.
I shall have a nose at this book... unfortunately the trip to Italy will have to wait no matter how tempting lol x
