I am responding after England's match against Slovenia, so know that England did qualify. They won the match 1-0 thanks to a goal from Defoe, but were not very convincing with their performance. In fact, the last quarter of an hour they were very jittery and very nearly conceded an equaliser to Slovenia which could have thrown then out!!
Cheers!

they've been playing very poor football, they've got such big stars but they never produce on the field !! hope they do better in the round of 16 !!

I put my bet on World Cup winning team on England so of course I want them to win the title, however watched their poor game on the last two matches I started to doubt their passion on winning the title. For a country that create soccer and has a very solid football league, it seems they don't know how to translate those individual skills to team coordination. I just feel they clueless or the strategy made by Capello did not work. I just hope they did not get eliminated too soon, it will be less attractive to watch WC if they lose.

i completely agree with you on everything..except for the part where you say that the worldcup will be less interesting !! i think there are some extremely talented teams out there who've got such skillful players and its a delight to see them on the field !!

haha yeah but since my favorite team to win the title is England, it would be slightly less interesting for me but I'm still gonna watch the event By the way, eng;and make their way to top 16! So glad they can make it although I still feel they underperform. They are far more superior in qualifications match, however I feel bad for Slovenia that their ticket to the top 16 was "robbed" in last minutes by US...

Hats off to England today, they finally gave a good preformance.
To be honest, I didn't think they would qualify for the last 16 but I'm happy to say they proved me wrong. I hope they keep this standard of play up, they could be in with a real chance of winning.
I'm not a fan of Capello's managerial style but I'm glad he finally seen sense and didn't start Heskey. That would have annoyed me and probably ruined England's chances.
I agree with Harry Rednapp, there's not one team left that are unbeatable. If England stay focused and put the first two games behind them and keep playing at this standard then there's no saying where they'll go to. Sure, there has been a lot of missed chances over the three games, but I've faith in the boys that they'll pull their socks up and deliver the goods on Saturday.
Crouch definately needs to be on that field more frequently though, I'm not sure what Capello's playing at refusing to start him, or Joe Cole. Defoe was definately a good choice though, and that paid off.

I think they will make it, they have a great team, just haven't been able to pull off agood game with a good score, once the goals start coming everything gets better.

You are right. England is a big team but they didn't show good performance in last two game against USA and Algeria. There are many star such us, Wyne Rooney, Gerrard and Frank Lampard. I think they need more adaptation with the ball and situation of stadium. You know, distinctive trumpet sound of South Africa very bothered communication between player and coach. Moreover, they didn't compacted yet. I hope tonight they will play better to beat Slovenia and get the ticket to the next round.
