I was brave enough to come along with my friends to a Thai restaurant the other day. We order something like Curry; noodle; and a 3 - flavor whole fish and some appetizers. My friends are spicy lover, and I guess they order 2 dishes are 4 - 5 stars. I took a bite, and I couldn't stop drinking water from that moment. They told me to practice a little more, and when I get used to it. I would love spicy food. But my tongue is burning, and I couldn't take it no more. Wow, how brave I was to taste all of them, and I guess that waiter refill at least 4 glasses of water for me.

I’m with you! I don’t handle spicy too well especially when it entails burning your mouth! I don’t understand the joy in eating something so hot that it disguises all taste and causes discomfort like profuse sweating and nasty burning!

Yep. As long as it's not too spicy yes. Can't really enjoy a meal when it's too hot.

I love spicy food. I'd cook almost everything in a spicy way but there are other members of our family who don't have the taste buds for spicy food.I'd prefer everything spicy if I can have it my way. But, of course, with the exception of desserts.
By the way, my two fave Filipino spicy dishes are Caldereta and Bicol express. They are shimmering hot and awefuly delicious, too.:-)

I love spicey food, but not too spicey. I do not mean medium, but what I mean is that I want the food to be between medium and hot. When we are at a restaurant, we order the not so spicey and that is because my husband and my daughter-in-law do not want a lot of heat.
I mean I wish they would order the medium hot instead of just medium. It is so boring.

I love spicy food!! Water doesn't really help with spicy though; often it makes it worse. Eating bread can help; milk is the number one thing that helps, but I hate milk. lol. I love jalepeno and habenero peppers. I love the habenero wings from chiles. It's really spicy and really good. I put some kind of hot sauce on pretty much everything. :)

It will take time for me to practice this kind of eating though. I felt like my tongue was on fire, and really to blow it out like a dragon. Spicy food is good, and it increase your appetite a bit though.

Chinese spicy food is awesome, with ouzo it flames you up in the insides like you need to carry a fire extinguisher with you...I wouldn't taste more than two spicy dishes on one meal, don't make me do it and don't give me money for it, I won't. Chilly peppers are great for a salad or when you're eating some kind of meat and meet the two tastes, it's a strange one in the beginning, afterwards it gets good and then you want more.

Ho my! I feel for ya.
I know because I can not and will never be able to handle HOY and spicy foods. I love it but it don't like me at all. I have found that water makes it HOTTER and they say a piece of bread will help but that didn't help either.
Take care

I really like the spicy food because it can increase our appetite but if too spicy or very spicy I could not help it and sometimes I also eat green chilies directly.

Yes, I love spicy food, and eat it as often as I can! I used to work with some Indian people who taught me to eat practically anything, so now I only feel the spiciness if I eat huge quantities of wasabi (the green spicy paste you eat with sushi), anything else, I barely even feel!

It's a funny story. When I go a spicy food restaurant, I usually feel it's very strange. I ordered some food to eat. At first, it's very taste. But when I eat it usually, I feel it's normal food. Spicy food makes everybody feels it's funny to discovery many food around the world.

I wouldn't mind spicy food if it wasn't hot.(lol) I hate it when I order something in a restaurant that I don't know is spicy and after my first bite the whole meal is ruined. My mouth will be on fire and I can't taste anything after that. How do you all get past the hot? How do you taste anything? I am serious. I know spicy is very popular these days because it is everywhere I go so there must be something to it. I just don't get it. I would like Thai food if it wasn't so hot. I like going to Oriental restaurants and I really like General Tso's Chicken. When I order it I ask them to leave the hot spice out of it and then I like it.
Spicy food makes my whole mouth feel like all the skin came off with one bite. I always said if I want to burn my tongue I'll just strike a match and stick it in my mouth.

I don't enjoy spicy foods but there's some that I like.
One is a fish curry (can't remember if the name's correct).
It's a very spicy food with very small fish (dilis)
which was prepared to us by one Pakistani friend.
Another one is the Bicol Express of the Bicolanos.

sometimes i do,sometimes not. depends on my mood.but i only tasted spicy noodles from (i can't remember the country, but it's just given by our neighbor who has relative abroad).i find the noodles very spicy,i can't take the spiciness myslef, same as jjampong noodles,i guess it's damn hot!
this is my reaction when i tasted it...
i loved caldereta and bicol express from my country,philippines...
i can say wasabe is a kind of foreign spicy food/thing to me and i know it's really hot i think i won't be able to try that.
my father is from bicol where lots of people loved and enjoyed eating spicy foods.even the whole chili thing they used to eat. my father always cooked laing, the viand which is composed of coconut milk and dried gabi leaves. most of my relatives from mother side always waits for that menu from my father when we have this yearly family reunion.really spicy!

I too love spicy food, but only specific dishes, my everyday food should not be spicy. I like those hot spicy chats, spicy bhel puris , and pav bhaji....I have not tried thai food yet....but have had spicy french loaf sandwiches.
