hello my fellow mylotters! is it really bad for one's health to take a bath even after a few hours had lapsed, say, 7-10 hours, after you've had a whole body massage? they say your pores opened up during the massage and taking a bath hours after would bring you more harm than before you had your massage. i often have a whole body massage after a very tiring work week and i was always advised to let at least 24 hours go by before taking a bath. that was fine during weekends but sometimes, important appointments had to be keep and not taking a bath before attending such appointment is simply out of the question. now, i am also apprehensive that i would put myself in dire harm should i take a bath after 7-10 hours after having that massage. hope to hear from my fellow mylotters on this, maybe you have some info on this, hope you can share it with me.

I do the traditional massage only when my body is really feeling bad. After that I take a rest and deep sleep. No plans to take a bath. I will wait tomorrow for a good bath because they say that your muscle and other veins are still exhausted from the massage technique and it can ruin your body. It's like the machine in a car, when you put water on it, it will destroy the engine. So, I better take care of my body because it is so hard to overhaul it. Very expensive! Unlike the engine if it useless, you can buy a new one. Our body is our machine for living.

deriellevc how on earth could a massage cause your pores to open up, that makes no sense at all. Rubbing the outside of one skin does not make the pores close or open, this sounds really silly to me. For heavens sakes it is better to be clean, pores or not, than go without bathing because of a massage. this sounds like utter nonsense to me. I will snopes this just for fun.And you would not be in any harm at all, even if your pores were open, those are minute little things, this is all so much hooey its funny. I have had a massage from my own hubby, and bathed four hours later and the only reaction I had was I was clean and smelled good. lol lol loll

I've been told after an ayurvedic body massage that i can take a bath to the body after a couple of hours. As regards head I've been advised to have a bath the next morning.I haven't been told to wait for so long as you've mentioned.I immediately have a steam bath after the massage and a bath after a few hours.

I do believe that it could harm our body if we shower after a massage. I just don't know how many hours exactly do we need to rest our body and avoid a nice shower/bath
