Have you heard about the new cigarette price increases??

I heard today that the price of cigarettes here in New York State is going to go up by almost $10 next month!! They are even planning on taxing cigarettes that are sold to Indian reservations so that the prices there will also go up! They are raising the tax on ALL tobacco products!
There is NO WAY I am going to spend almost $20 a pack!!! I remember when they weren't much more than $20 a CARTON! Thank GOD I have my e-cigarette's to fall back on!!!

Egads! I'm already @ my wit's end with what my hubby pays now for a pack it's like $7.39 a pack! Shoot 10 yrs ago when we were first married I could buy 4-5 packs for $10.
Sadly they know people are addicted and will pay what they have to KWIM? But I can't see putting your family out over it either.

I know what you mean... It makes me mad that the government has found a way to prosper off of peoples addictions... I'm surprised that they haven't legalized heroin just for the tax revenue!!

Kelly, if this tax increase, tax increase, etc. etc. etc. keeps up, what's going to happen is that a great big black market for cigs is going to open up! It just makes me furious when I see this always laid on those of us who smoke. Glad I don't live in New York, but I fear that that is where the rest of us are headed.
