Annoying

My husband has a crazy habit of not always checking his pockets before tossing them into the dirty clothes basket. I've washed his eye drops, gum and most recently Chapstick. After washing his khaki's 4 times, I was able to get the stains from the Chapstick out of his pants except for one pair. Those had to be trashed. For years he was so good to check his pockets but lately he's slipping. What's the most annoying thing that you've washed over the years?

Ink pens....they are merciousless....I have ruined a whole load of laundry with a pen in it.....in fact my grandson recently forgot one in his pants and it was washed with my SIL's new uniforms....I got most of it out after going through a couple of bottles of hairspray.....but he still had to pay for what was wrecked and maybe next time he won't be so careless!

Ummmm that is a major mess. Had this happen years ago. Did the hairspray get the ink totally out? Thanks for responding.

My husband has the same crazy habit as yours. He never checks his pockets before I throw the dirty clothes in the wash. I've washed his wallet a few times over the years. And just recently I almost washed the key to our car. It's actually an electronic key fob so something tells me it wouldn't have made it through the wash. Fortunately my husband remembered to take it out in the nick of time. Otherwise it might just have turned out to be a costly mistake. Happy mylotting!

Ouch! The electronic key might have turned into mush or it might have broken your washer. Either way it wouldn't have been a good thing. Thanks for responding.

An ink pen! My mom doesn't do her and my dad's laundry anymore. She's gotten sick, and he is so busy, I don't want to make him do it. I don't live with them, but I do come over, and on some days I'll do their laundry. My dad is SO bad about leaving things in his pant pockets. I've washed money I don't know how many times -paper money AND coins. But by far the most annoying was an ink pen that had the cap come off in the middle of the washing cycle. I don't know how, but not all of the clothes got inked. I was able to get the ink out of the things that did get messed up.

I always heard hairspray helps get out ink stains. That's one thing I never washed. Thanks for responding.

I think it is a husband thing, I really do! I have washed a packet of chewing gum which was stuck all over his pants but the worst thing I ever washed was a cell phone and guess what? It wasn’t my husband’s fault but mine because I had it in the pocket of my jeans! Come to think of it...It was HIS fault really because he is the one who suggested I keep the phone in my pocket because I don’t always here it when it’s in my bag!

It's more fun to blame it on your husband..lol I don't always carry a purse either so I do sometimes put my phone in my pocket. Thanks for responding.

Well, I do check all my clothes before putting them to the basket, and this I am doing for long now, as I remember the day my wife put my clothes to the washing machine without checking and I lost one very important peice of paper and so started giving more attention since then. Good Luck

Carolbee, I have to disagree, it's his cloths. Even if you're the one doing the wash, he should check his pockets before throwing his dirty laundry to the bin.

I don't wash cloths because I am the one like your husband I also forgot thing in my pocket and my mom always beat me because she always see trash in my pants well I don't trow little thing I try to keep it. And the worst thing I forgot that my mom also forgot to take out from my pants is my money after my pants wash I try to check if my money is there and didn't break luckily its only wet. That time I always check my pants now before placing it to dirty cloths.

It's a good habit to get into before putting clothes in the dirty pile or hamper. Your mom beats you for not emptying your pockets? Thanks for responding.

i always check my pockets right after i take it off of me. usually it's all case, paper with some quickie notes, and candies. i used to send it to a laundry shop and i guess there was one time i lost couple of bucks and i'm pretty sure the last place i put it was in my pocket.

I got into the habit of checked pants and shirt pockets years ago however a few things got away from me when our kids lived at home. Paper can be a mess. Thanks for responding.

Hey carol~ I guess it would have to be the worst thing you could leave in a pocket and that would be a pen! Nothing more annoying than ink all over everything because we know what ink stains can do! I have also washed money, but that's ok! Money is dirty enough to begin with!

I agree. Ink is a disaster. Not sure which is worse ink or gum. The chapstick was a major mess and did ruin one good pair of pants. Money is dirty but probably not after it's been washed..lol Thanks for responding.

My first husband stuffed a napkin in his pocket & forgot to take it back out. It took me forever to get all that paper off our clothes & weeks to get it all out of the washing machine. Every time I thought I had the machine cleaned out properly, I'd wash more clothes & I'd find more tiny bits of paper. To this day I don't put tissues, napkins, nor paper towels in my pocket!!! My last husband did ALL the laundry. He never took my word that there were no surprises in my pockets. He said he'd rather check them, than deal with the mess after the fact!!!

Awww the old napkin/tissue mess. One of our kids left a kleenex in their jeans and it was a total disaster. It is especially mean to dark clothing. Thanks for responding and have a great weekend. carolbee

I am usually quite careful when sending my dirty clothes into the basket, so I don't leave things in my pockets too often. Perhaps the most annoying thing I have ever washed was some papers. These were crushed into small pieces and scattered all over the pockets, it was very hard to get rid of them.

Paper is a mess too. I find a lint roller to be useful when the clothes finally dry and then rewash them. Thanks for responding.

My late husband also had the bad habit of not checking hispockets. You don't want to know how many times his wallet went through the wash. The first time i washed his driver's license, i nearly cried. I soon learned to check his pockets myself. It saved a lot of annoying grief.

I thought of asking my husband to put his pockets inside out when he tosses in the dirty clothes but don't know if he will remember or bother to do it. That would solve the problem. Never washed a wallet. Thanks for responding.

Your husband is the same with my husband just like one time after i did the laundry i just noticed that there was a gum on his scrub suit. But at least i am happy coz it did not get into our clothes then there are times that i found coin in the washing machine.I told him and then he said it wont happen again but still it happen over and over again. So what i did i always check his pants or srub suits before i will put it in the washer just to make sure.

I understand about the coins. I find them all the time in the washer or dryer. The gum I washed was in a cardboard cover. This helped the gum from making a total mess all over the place. Thanks for responding.

I remember in my last year of school I left a floppy disc containing several important pieces of work in my shirt pocket, and my mother washed the shirt. Luckily I had printed copies of the work already or I would have had a major problem. I ALWAYS make sure to check my pockets now!

i think the worst thing ive ever washed was used tissue paper, they sorta melt while in the washing machine and go all over the other clothes, you take them out and they dry up like really sticky lint. you have to wash the clothes a good couple of times to take em out.

Sounds like a nasty job. Washing any tissue with black clothes can be a disaster. Thanks for responding.
