To me, all the answers are found in science. I believe the 'Big Bang Theory' of creation, not the biblical one. To me, it is too hard to believe that a man appeared out of nowhere and created the world. I find it much easier to believe the ball of gases theory. For this reason, I am an atheist and very happy to be so. But of course, if you choose to believe in God or something else, that's fine.

Well, there is a Big Bang theory. We studied it at school. Of course it was a theory which scientists came up with, by studying the natural world and how creatures evolve. You can read a lot about it online too, for example at Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang

The "big bang" theory is completely false. God created all there is and one day we all will see Him face to face.
May God bless.

I don't believe that there is anyone who doesn't believe in God. I think those who say there is no God are people who don't like God or the way He conducts business. People want God to conform to their image of what they want God to be. Since He won't do that, they try to convince themselves that God doesn't exist.

Sorry to contradict you but there are many people who do not believe in a god or gods. In many cases their lack of belief is based on the complete lack of evidence that a supposed supernatural being is active in this world.
People who do believe in one ore more gods base their belief on a phenomenon known as patternicity, the tendency to find meaningful patterns in meaningless noise, for a discussion of this see http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=patternicity-finding-meaningful-patterns

The better question is why do people believe in a god or gods? There is no physical evidence that a god ever did anything. Your statement that people do not question how they came to exist is incorrect. There are a lot of people that do not believe in a supernatural explanation for existence but are asking the question as to why they exist. They are called scientists.

Just curious! How do scientists prove the existence of a god or gods?

Thank goodness for scientists. They prove the existence of God.

A "God" is the equivalent to parents saying "Don't question my authority" or "You'll understand when you're older" in the context you're using it in.
Religion becomes the easy way out when you view it like that.
"How did we get here?" God made us. No further explanation needed.
"How did you survive that horrific car accident?" God's will. No further explanation needed.
"Why did my wife deserve to suffer horrifically for 2 years from cancer before dying, and she's been a good person her entire life?" God works in mysterious ways that you couldn't possibly know. No further explanation needed.
If folks want to believe in a god and want to appreciate their religion and never question further, then that's fine. I respect religion and religious people and don't make it a cause of mine to disprove what they believe to exist.
I think the poster above me already illustrated the better question to be asked here.

Answers?
Perhaps just kinder possibilities.
It's not about answers being "sufficient." It's about them being convenient and a shut-off.
Sure. Science cannot sufficiently answer a lot of questions either (although it really does; people just don't like the answer), but it does try to seek truth and doesn't hang its hat on an ageless, sexless magical being who just so happened to always be there pulling the strings and our F'd up little lives are somehow his "mysterious" plan.
I mean, whatever floats one's boat.
Just, please, don't try to sell me on religion and I won't try to sell anyone on it being false.

They dont believe in God because they believe that they can rely on themselves and dont need any help. They dont believe in God because they cant see the things around them, they are ungrateful. They dont believe because they are blind and they dont have the willingness to see. They are foolish, as the bible says in Psalms 53:1 "The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God."

It is useless to argue about this. I believe that there is a God, because I do. I feel it in me that there is somebody that is bigger and greater than us and He runs the Universe. But if I meet an atheist, then no matter of what I would say to him, he can't be changed because he has an other belief, and everything I say will not even reach his mind. These type of people just don't want to listen. I have a question: Which is worse: to believe and God not to exist, or not to believe and God to exist? That is how I feel and think about this, but I don't want to argue with the nonbelievers. It is their choice and they will pay the price eventually.

Hi richshie,
I believe some people claim they do not believe in God because they want to live their own lives their own way...sin and no consequences. They do not want to have to answer to someone much higher than they are.
But the truth is there IS a God and we all will have to give an account of how we lived our lives here on earth. It doesn't matter if you believe or not. It is the truth...GOD'S truth and it won't change.
I pray many will come to know God and accept the awesome love He has for them thru His Son, Jesus Christ.
May God bless!

Because they don't want to. If there was a God then they would have to answer for the wrongs that they've done. Its better to say you don't believe, so when you find out there is you can act surprised. "What there's a God? I had no idea"

When I was young I thought that anyone that didn't believe in "God" was stupid.
I met my first atheist when I was 19 and he was the principle of a school, certainly NOT stupid. That set me out to try to understand. I argued with a number of people who claimed that they didn't believe.
I was 22 when I came across the answer to why I thought that there had to be a "God".
Since then I've learned more and more why it is NOT correct to assume that there IS a divine being.
I wrote a paper about the conflict between the philosophy of science and the belief in a "God".
Would you like to see it ?
