sourceforge.net (free and open source) other sites are just mixed with freeware / shaware.

If you don't know about this , you can try www.download.com . It's quite a famous site and you can find all kinds of software inside, freeware, shareware, paid ones and stuffs like that .
If you only want freewares, filter the search and look for freewares. Goodluck :)
