Lots of people read, lots of people do not read. Why do you or why don't you read? I love to read, I believe it relaxes me and lets me escape reality.

Hi Rebecca, I like your question. I read because I get some important or useful information from there. I read books, magazines, and the newspapers quite regularly and now with myLot pages I have so many interesting and meaningful topics of discussions to read. The beauty of reading myLot is that, unlike reading books, you can give your immediate response or share your ideas for the topics you have read, and your response benefits the person who started the discussion or posted the question.

I share your sentiments on reading suminundu. There are a lot of benefits derived from reading and most of all reading satisfy our hunger for knowledge. Reading is the best thing we can do when we are alone and lonely. It occupies our free time and add much to our knowledge bank. One reason why I like mylot is the varieties of topics of discussions available and having been here for 4 years I think I have gained considerable knowledge that could have earned me scrolls of recognition.

Hi Zandi, thanks for reading my comment for Rebecca.I add here that I will continue reading whatever reading materials I deem worth reading as I believe that for every text I read I gain knowledge from it. Could u please advise me on how to write discussions that earn me good myLot reputation like you all.I feel I'm just beginning to discover the dimension of knowledge needed to generate a good idea or topic for discussion that gathers good response from myLotters.

I read because I like story, from thriller to fairies, from myth to history. It is relaxing, transporting us to another time another place, and giving us more information on people characters, places and sometime phrases of other language. People who reads is usually seen and perceived as an educated man/woman. Happy reading!

The reasons people read are many. It can be to learn a particular topic, for relaxation after a long day, or some combination of the two. It is great when one can read a classic book or even a contemporary book and get another meaning from the material. Some people like to read easier materials so they can read in higher quantity. It can be okay to read those books from time to time, but people should make sure they get a higher dose of reading quality as well, precisely because it can be so difficult to find quality reading in high doses nowadays. It seems like publishers want to pander to a certain segment of the population, and that is unfortunate. Reading has been a way to pass the time for countless generations and will be in time to come. Reading is so powerful and so important to any group of people that educators should try to find the best readers and separate them so that we will continue to have quality readers and people capable of synthesizing information, engaging in various topics and generally able to think effectively.

I read mainly fiction, I read because I love it, I read because it relaxes me, I read because it is fun, I read to be transported to places both real and fictional that I would never be able to visit for real. I read all sorts of books - any genre really - the classics, thrillers, chillers, chick-lit - I'm not fussy, I just love to be lost in the pages of any good book!

I like to read. sometimes I wanna know about a person or place or I over hear someone talk of an author. mostly I noticed that my speaking is much more educated. I can't say I read to escape reality, but more so to make my reality better. If that makes sense?

I read for entertainment, relaxation, to calm down and sleep (if I go to bed with book or audiobook, I'll be asleep in moments), even if I wasn't that tired when I went to bed. The more serious reason that I read is because I'm a writer. I don't feel one can write well unless one also reads a lot.

I read because I love it. There's no better way to ignite the imagination and stir up knowledge. Typically I read fantasy novels about epic quests to save some made-up fantasy world, but I'll read anything that peaks my interest. I'll read to escape, and I'll read to learn. Television, movies, and the internet have got absolutely nothing on a good book!

Reading is pleasurable. I read to enjoy the plots, the characters, and the places where the stories took place.

I read a lot, all different kinds of books - autobiography, history, thrillers, true crime, general fiction. I enjoy reading because I learn new things, find out how other people live and just for general escapism. I find reading very relaxing and I enjoy reading during train journeys too.

Hi Rebeccarogers2010, I was introduced to books as early as 3 years old but they said, I never really learned to read until I was almost 5. Practically, I read everytime I see written articles that catch my attention. I reserve reading books during the night when most of my companions are fast asleep. It gives me more concentration that way. I used to read fiction because like you, it relaxes my spirit and somehow, it does relieve my stress. But now, I found reading true accounts of peoples's everyday life in Mylot even more interesting. Here I find friends who are real people with real thoughts, desires and real life experiences and expectations. It kind of relieves my thoughts to read discussions and find out that I share the same interests with them.

Yes, i do reading because it brings a lot of benefits to me. Here are a few: First of all, it expands my vocabulary and it helps me a lot with my studies. It improves my spelling as well. Reading helps me to understand different ways of life and different ideas. When we read a new stories and try to find out what will happen next, it will expands our imagination, Reading can make one learn not only languages but also different cultures but cultures and rituals of civilizations by making an individual live the past, present or future of places he or she has never been to. That's why, i love reading a lot because it really do help me in my life.
