It's going to be a big match in round of 16 in this world cup. It's a classic duel between two European top teams. At the group stage, England still couldn't play as brilliant as they did in qualification, but they managed to get through unbeaten, while Germany, having played with their offensive, attractive style, unexpectedly lost to Serbia.
I believe it's going to be a tough match to see, and each team will play their best to win the game. Hopefully, the winner will not be decided through shootout.
And I hope Germany can win the battle...

Absolutely I am in favour of Germay.Although their players are young,I can still see their mature in the last competition with Ghana.I think they are energic and ambitious.Despite winning luckily,I have to say that England disappoint me again because of their poor aggressivity.:(

You are right smallsaozhou Germany produced better brand of soccer5 than England in the group stages. However we should not forget that Germany was defeated by Serbia whereas though England played below par in their group games they weren't defeated by any other team.So we must admit that defensively there is a problem with Germany while England possess a goal scoring problem due to lack of form of Wayne Rooney.Frankly I don't have any favourites but I will like to watch a great game of soccer from the two sides.

Okay, smallsaozhou chose German and zausiu chose England. That's 3-1 for Germany then.
Germany is very promising with their youngster, and this is surely not going to be their last tournament.
And Argentina vs England? Well, I would always remember David Beckham in 1998 and 2002...

England is one of my favorite in world cup 2010 and off course I hope they will win the match against Germany. Spite of all that, I agree that Germany played good games in the last three matches along world cup 2010. Their performance is better rather than England team even they lose against Serbia. In other hand, England didn't show their best performance even though they have talented player, as Gerrard, Rooney and Lampard. They didn't compact yet. After all, I support England to be the winner and pass to quarter final.

Hi bangamed yeah it is indeed a very big battle ahead for both the teams in the last 16.Frankly speaking I don't have any favourite like you and I just want to watch a scintillating game of soccer and may the best team win.The recent form of England proves that they are not at the top of their game and are certainly not world beaters.germany on the other hand showed what they are capable of in their very first game against Australia and therefore I think that your wish of seeing germany in the last 8 may be a reality. However in order to defeat England which appears to be a resurgent lot at least in their last game the Germans need Ozil to fire. Also Podolsky need to take a lot more responsibility in their attack and Swainststaiger nedds to be at the top of his game as he is the driving force of this German side.England on the other hand needs to neutralize Swainsstaiger and thereby cut off the supply to Ozil and company up front. Also Rooney needs to be in his usual self exerting pressure on the rival defense and preventing Lahm from joining the attack.Milner needs to deliver many more quality crosses from the right flank and expose the german defensive flaws.

So, you're neutral right? But I agree that it's going to be a very big battle. Both team is still struggling to play their best, and perhaps this match will show who's better. Podolski and Rooney is still below par, but there are Defoe and Ozil on each side who scored decisive goals yesterday.

Well of course I have to support England, I am English, and I would just LOVEthem to win this match and in fact the whole championship - I think that it would be a huge boost for our country!!
But I am a realist, and I am the first to admit that the team have been truly awful so far in the tournament - even their win yesterday was, in my opinion, a very poor gaem, we should have beate a team like Slovenia about 6 - 0, at times it looked like it was going to be at the best a draw!!
I am going to sound a little like a broken record player with these discussions, but I completely blame our poor play on the way football is treated in the UK.
We have FAR too many foreign players adn not enough home grown talent, take the game back to grass roots and we'll have a far more interesting game.
So although I desperatly hope my team will pull their socks up, leave ugly Rooney at home and win the match I'm afraid I think that after Sunday they will be on their way home!!
I hope that I'm proved wrong!

That's even, 3-3 now.
Foreign players, foreign investment, but your country now has the biggest, the bestest, the greatest, football league in the world. Everybody in many countries loves your football competition. Perhaps it's true, the chance of youngsters to compete is extremely reduced, that even a team like Arsenal tend to have some teenagers from France or Spain to be their next stars.

Yesm it will be a really exciting match! I live in England and we all support England in our house. During the last match, we all sat around watching together as a family and it should be the same again on Sunday. Of course, I want England to win, but I hope it will be a good match. I know it will be a close one, as Germany is a great team too.

karen1969,
Well, it will be a good match for sure as you can mark the words of the great kaiser Franz Beckenbauer where he said that this match should have made it as a semis showdown than a last 16.
And, I can assure you that it is going to end to end stuff, it is definitely not for the faint-hearted. So, get the pacemakers and medications ready. Also, both camps are already preparing for the inevitable penalty shootouts.

P.S.
Not forgetting the fact that the Germans have a slight advantage (illegal IMO) with the tournaments Jabulani balls.

Germans are favorites for sure and though england have started getting confidence later on in this world cup as they were merely on the verge of crashing out, they can play good game but don't think they have the power to outplay Germans this time around.Rooney looks jaded and without start player like Beckham England does look week

It is one of the traditional classic matches. I think both teams are completely geared up for this one. Also off the field comments by Beckenbauer and Capello are stirring things up. Something tells me that Rooney will be all fired up for this match and will score in this match. I think it is going to be a hard fought match and Capello's England are going to eke out a 2-1 win over Loew's boys!!
Cheers!

I am on Germany side.I don't believe England will play amazing games in WC.They disappointed me many many many times.they should be shame for their ugly performance. There was many stories between England and Germany in their history.every time they met, always big show!

I watched my second match of the tournament standing next to a German in an otherwise English madhouse ;)
England will win this match even if it goes to penalties IMHO.
best wishes

I'm English, living in Spain, so I'd like to see England and Spain in the final if possible. I don't think that's very likely though - England don't seem strong enough to go all the way, although they played much better last night. Last time England won the World Cup, I was in Spain on holiday, so I'm hoping history will repeat itself. It probably won't happen, but I hope we can beat Germany.

I will go on the German side, because English players look really fatigued and consumed. They have had a very tough season with more than 50 games in a year, which is a lot, even they take different pills for effort.
I think Germany will win in injury time.

It will be a tough Match , But Germany have the Upper Hand in terms of team form and also Their Forwards are in prime Form .
Though both are weak in defence , I would still go with Germany . England are struggling with Form and were not impressive in the 3 matches played so far .
Also the In-Team feud not supporting them . Fabio Capello needs to bring out a more Attacking Approach to move his team forward.
