Would you change your given name? If so, what would you change it to and why?

Sometimes, I hate my name. I just feel like it's so...boring. Then again, it could be worse. I would pick something unique or maybe pick a name that is common, but with a different spelling.
So, if you had the chance to change the name you were given at birth, what would you change it to? Would you even change it at all? Why would you change it to a different name?

Lol, thank you, im glad you appreciate my name. My close friends just started calling me 'mel' starting first year high school, and its the name i tell whenever i meet new people ever since. Although when it comes to formal stuff, i write my whole name. They arent exactly mean when they tease me, they just make a joke out of it, lol. I guess they just dont like the sound of it. Hehe.

hi Stephanie, I like your name and your question. I was thinking about that when I was young, because I thought that my name was really weird and hard to say correctly for most of my teachers. lol, but now I love it. by the way, my name is Noslen, I got that from my father, his name is Nelson, he spelled his name backwards and got my name. I now think its cool that giving me a name was really given some deep thought. If ever I will be given a chance to change my name, if I would at all, I'd choose the name Andromeda, as I really like it since I was little, but I guess I'll just give that name to my daugther when I have one.

I like your name too. It is indeed unique. I like how you father flipped around his name and created yours. It's a neat concept. My name would be strange if I flipped it. It would go from Stephanie to Einahpets. Now, how in the world would I pronounce that?
Thanks for the compliment!

I agree, your name will sound even weird if you flip it. lol!but it's nice the way it is. I'm sure, your parents thought its a beautiful name and they do love it like how they love you, otherwise, they wouldn't name you that way.

When I was a teenager, I wanted to change my name to Athena. I must have had somewhat of a fascination for Greek mythology, because I wanted to name my daughter, if I had one, Isis. Go figure, huh? My name is Amber, and back then I wasn't happy with it. However now, I like it. I'm pretty happy with my name. If I had to change it now, I'd probably go with something more mainstream, like Meredith.

I wonder why your middle name is pronounced 'Marie' when it is smelled so different.
I agree that Amber is a pretty name. Although, I have to admit that I'm quite fond of Isis. I actually think Amber is quite a unique name I haven't come across any other people named Amber besides you!

Oh that's easy, because I have always hated my name..I'd pick Ciara, because I like the sound of it and the fact that no one else has this name spelled this way..:) Or if they do, it is rare..

It's pronounced like the desert Sierra desert. And yes, you shouldn't be surprised, after all I desperately wanted to name one of my girls this, (my husband didn't agree.) and so I named my character this and no one is going to tell me no..lol Plus I got to name my puppy Ciara, though she is in the dog house now..6 months old and she regressed back to pooping in the house so I have to watch her like i did when we first got her..I was told my daughters dog and her bosses dog did this at 6 months too, so maybe it's something some dogs go through at this age..

I know how to pronounce the name. I think I knew a Ciara. Is there any reason why you like the name so much? I'm just curious if you had a reason behind it.
My dog is 9 years old. She's a Basset Hound. We trained her to ring the bell to go out. The bell dangles by the door and she nudges it with her nose when she needs to go to the bathroom. We trained her when she was still a puppy. Every time we saw her sniffing the ground and looking like she was going to go, we scooped her up, pressed her nose against the bell, said 'Out," and brought her outside. She learned pretty quick! She only had one accident!

I should have guessed you would pick Ciara! OR maybe Cece. Is your name hard to pronounce? I hate when people butcher names.

Hi Steph! I like your name! Want to trade? I doubt it! I would
definitely change my name because I hate my name! It is Leslie!
I have never liked it! But, I don't know what I would change
it too. It would be something different and a unique spelling!
I like the name Jasmine, but it doesn't fit me!lol And it isn't
that uncommon anymore! I'd have to give it alot of thought, I
guess. I think when I was younger I thought about it alot, but
now I'm too old to think up a cute, yet hip name!

Leslie isn't that bad! Maybe it'd be more unique if it was spelled Lesli.
I'm picky about names. I feel like once I'd choose one, I'd want to change it again! I like the name Orion for a boy though. I don't know why. I guess because it's a bit different than the common name, "Ryan" and it's the same name as the constellation.

I don't want to change my name even though I ever thought why did my name was so. I appreciate to my parents who gave me the meaningful name for me. Furthermore, if I change my name, it is not necessarily to be better than my name that given by my parents. I was just a name. Does our name influence our life? I don't think so.

I disagree to some extent. If your name was something completely irrational and aloof, no one would take you seriously. Although, I do agree that it doesn't affect the person you are inside.e

I was named after a Naval hero and a Queen. I would love to change my given name to my great grandmother's name. Old fashioned, full of grace and beauty. If I come into some money or have reason other wise to change my name I will take her name and be proud to have it. Yep. Yep. Yep.

I came home after my first day at school and complained to my father that I did not like my name and that I would want it changed. For the first time I came to know that there were so many girl names and I particularly liked the names Rosie and Flossy I told him! And now when I think of it I laugh at myself as I truly like my name and would not want to change it ever!

I love my name. A lot of nicknames have sprung from my name. And one joke is "Wes aint in that mess." So no, I would never change my name. Even my last name, I could change to my father's name. But in respect and honor of my grandparents who raised me from a helpless baby, I keep my last name.

Hello!
I do not even think about It. Our parents give us a special name. Do you have heard about name role? I have tried to search and find my name role. And guess what a some part of written coincided with my nature. Just imagine If you change your name It is like change yourself. Yes your parents can give you a other name and maybe It would be worse. By the way, What is your name? My name is Edgars.

I did change my name about ten years ago now because I didn't like my first name (Clare) so have kept this and use as my middle name instead so haven't stopped using it, just prefer to keep it somewhere in the middle!
It cost something like £30 for me to have it done which in 1995/6 was a fair amount of money, you had to go to a solicitors office and you had to sign a declaration so was very straight forward procedure though dislike the fact that my birth certificate can't be changed. You just have a separate document with your changed name alongside your original name which just makes me feel stupid because I want my original first name completely deleted from my birth certificate.
Some people have ways and means of changing their identity completely and for good reasons but I have no idea of how they do this without there being some kind of repercussions? - I changed mine because I was abused as a child bu both parents and so understandably wanted to erase my name so I could recreate my own identity apart from the one that was given.

Hi Stephanie, I wouldn't want to change my name, I love it, it is so unusal the combination of my first and last name together that there are only two of me in the world whereas some names seem very common and if you do a seach there are hundreds. This is something that I feel is unique about me. Huggles. Ellie :D

It doesn't take much to change your name as long as you have all the right documents but if I wanted to changed I would probly change it to a name that was mroe unique than a name that was popular like mine is. my name is crystal and although it's spelled like the crystal people still spell it wrong. I hate it. So if I could it would probably be a name like Alicia, or ariana, or something else that is way more unique. My daughters name is Kathryn and the way I had it spelled out it's a very unique name because most spell it and pronounce it as Catherine and not Kathryn

I was born with the name Karen, which was very common amongst British girls in the 1970s, so there were always several Karens in my class and I hated it. Over the years, I used a few nicknames like Kaz, then I was called Kasha all the time for 8 years, which I liked. Then I moved back to my old hometown, where everyone knew me as Karen, so I got used to that name again and now I like it, but it took a long time to become happy with it. I love East European names and would have liked to have been called something like Olga, Nadia, Yelena or Tatiana.

So, in school there is alwasys 3 of us w/ the same name and last name (it's good my middle name has 2 initials or else it'll be common too).
