18 Missing Years of Jesus Christ come in my mind and make me think of it. Why they not include the 18 years of Jesus Christ since he 12 years old? Where he have been and what he doing that time? I can't find the reason why they not include this 18 missing year of Jesus Christ.. .

Hi darkdeivu, I've often thought about the same thing. The church would like people to think that he was at home working as a carpenter with Joseph, but this would have been really out of character for him. Others believe that he traveled to India and other eastern countries because much of his teachings are similar to what had already been taught there for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. It is said that he taught for three years, in which case there should also be much more than we have in the gospels. Blessings.

I agree with Pose from whatever I’ve read on this myself. The caravans of the silk route passed thru Jerusalem and alongwith the caravans, there were mystics and monks who travelled to distant lands to interchange global views on religion and spirituality. Maybe Jesus travelled with them to the oriental lands (I really can fathom as to why) in search of more spiritual knowledge and stayed there for quite sometime, learning more about oriental meditation, religion and spirituality. One interesting fact is that thru advance yoga and meditation, it is actually possible to leave the body for a certain period of time and again return back… there are proponents of the theory that Jesus did not actually die on the cross…these people say that while on the cross, Jesus used this oriental knowledge and practiced similar meditation and his resurrection was nothing but returning back to the very wounded body, which was then nursed back to health in a cave by his very few close associates!
Of course all this is debunked by the Church and Christians as hearsay (and they maybe correct)! You will not find any mention of this or of the missing years anywhere in Christian religion simply coz I hope you understand that these facts (or whatever they are) question the very foundation of Christianity and acknowledges its indebtedness to oriental spirituality, none of which are acceptable to the Church.

Hi sudiptacallingu, That is all very interesting. I have heard about leaving the body but not that particular theory about Jesus. The church doesn't like to be questioned about such things because it has no answers. Many Christians probably don't know that there were several different sects in the early church or that the gospels weren't written by the apostles. They refuse to accept the fact that many early Christians believed in reincarnation, including some well known and respected church fathers. It wasn't until the sixth century that the church threw out the belief altogether and probably then because it wouldn't give them the same control as other teachings. Blessings.

I do not think that is important. Before he showed himself up where John had baptized him, he was just like any other Jew. Only John recognized Him as to whom he is. Until the time He overcame temptation He was still an ordinary Jew. He revealed his true self only after he began his Sermon on the Mount and then rest is History.

*sighs* Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. He didn't just run off and disappear he studied the scriptures and meditated on them to get the meaning of them. He went to the temple and read from the scroll of the prophets so obviously he had been there before and knew the scrolls. He said he meditated on the word of God. He preached the resurrection so he must have studied it from or favored the pharisee and not the Sadducee. The people recognized him when he entered his village and said is this not Jesus the son of Joseph, who's father and mother we know. Obviously he hadn't gone off to live in another country he didn't get all the wisdom and knowledge he had from some other country he got it from studying and meditating on the meaning for most of his life.

Hi, darkdeivu, I think the best way to get a correct and direct answer for your question is, live a Holy Life, love God above all, be saved, and when you get there in Heaven, ask Jesus personally where he have been from age 12 to 30. That's the only way I think you can find out the truth about that mystery.

Probably doing carpentry training with His earthly father Joseph. But I really think He spend most of His time studying and memorizing the scriptures. Because He has been made a human, He also needed to study and meditate the words. This is the reason why when He turned 30, He has already mastered the Scriptures. Well, Do you remember when Jesus said He would prepare a mansion with many rooms for the believers? When he went to heaven, He might have done the carpentry works there as His human hands worked while He was on earth. Yes, Jesus especially prepared a mansion for the believers with His own hands.
Also, about memorizing the scriptures, we must also do the same...
