I often found a person that have so much sibling in facebook, and after i research some more, i found out that most of them actually just their friend. It is really strange if i see it, why people put their friend as their sibling. Do you often see people like this too? Also do you know what reasong they do that?
Thanks for responding this.

Hi, lordcaocao2025. I have never seen anything like this before. The only reason that I can possibly think of is that, they say that this is their sibling because they are very close like siblings are. They take this person as a blood family member. This is why, they may say that their friend is like a sibling to them.

Yes you might be right. For some people it is true. But usually, teens tend to exagerate and make their new friend as a sibling too. Some people actually put their roommate or people from their apartment as a sibling. I think they just want to say that their friend in a sibling list is most important than their usual friend. Thanks

Oh, i see. Well if that the case, maybe because they are very far away from their real family, so they start feeling that people around them, ( maybe ) a friend where they are stayed as they real family. I think it is quite possible like that since for them, it will be their friend the one they will count one what ever bad thing or good thing happened since their real family is so far away. I could be wrong thought.

That is an odd thing to do and I can’t say I have ever noticed it but I am not on Facebook very often. I presume that it is either because the people are very close to each other or it may be a cultural thing...I ‘m not sure...I would love to hear from someone who does this...

Well i don't think it has anything to do with culture since most teens in my country not do this, only a few of them, and they come from many cultures. Maybe some of them actually really close, but i doubt that aslo the case since i can see a person with more then 15 sibling ( which i am sure non of them is actually sibling ). It is hard to have 15 close friend when you just a teens.

I also confused why people doing this, it's so funny you put many names as your siblings. It usually has to do with either they are best friends, usually teenagers who do this or they put all their cousins or other relatives as their siblings. I don't know other reasons, can only think of those reasons hehe..

Well i think you are right here. Although most people that i know do thing like these usually not put their best friend, it just a friend that they usually hang out with. Maybe they just want to show that those friend are most special than they other friend. Maybe like that, or maybe not.

On my facebook I have someone set as my parent that really isn't. I have her there because I think of her as a mom and she thinks of me as one of her own children. My mom doesn't have a facebook and even if she did, I still wouldn't remove the person I have now because they act more like a mom to me than my own does. So, that is probably why most people do it. As far as the sibling side of it, I wouldn't know. All 5 of mine are legit. I have 1 biological sister, 1 half sister, 1 half brother, 1 step-sister, and 1 step-brother. To me, they are just my brothers and sisters without the titles at the beginning but some people don't believe me when I tell them I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters. lol

Oh i see, well good for you to have some one care for you, even more care to you than your own mom. Well you have quite a large family. It must be nice to have so many sibling around, since you hardly get bored since there is always family around you. Thanks for your respond friend.

I think people do this in most social networking site because of the bond they share with each other. I got friends who treat each other as family, calling one another as dad, mom, bro and sis. Aside from the bonding another reason might be
because some people seek the comfort of having a family through friends. That is how I see it but it doesn't mean I'm right

Well you could be right, some people actually have this kind of relationship. But i think most teens that do this thing like this usually not think that way. Some of them actually just a friend in school and just known each other for a few month. Although they are close, i don't really think they think their friend as a real brother / sister. Well, i could be wrong too.
