How do you know they are ready for no daipers at night?

My 3 year old daughter is toilet training & rarely has accidents anymore during the day & all she wears is normal underwear during the day....When it comes to bed time, I do put a nappy on her as she sometimes has accidents or does forget to go to the toilet when he wakes up. How do you know when a child is ready to go to bed without their nappy/daiper?

If she can pass on the night without wetting, then she needs no diaper at all in the future. But if she is forgetting to get up to use the toilet some days, then she still needs it. And you can help her to get rid of this habit by waking her up for a few days, in case she forgets.

Thanks for the info...I just don't know how I would go with waking her up as she take forever going to sleep.

before going to bed, i'll ask my little girl if she needs to pee...and fortunately we didn't had the hard coping with that phase. if she pees before she sleep she'll stays dry until the morning.
maybe you could limit the liquid intake before going to bed?

Another thing ersanmiguel forgets to say is, wake her up after two or three hours in her sleep and make her go to toilet. She may not be awake in full and let her do it sleepy. That will train her to urinate in the toilet herself in the future, even though she is in the middle of her sleep.

The better question for me would be if I really knew when they were ready to go to bed without diapers at night. You see, with my daughter she was completely potty trained during the day but I used diapers at night to make sure that there weren't any accidents. Then, one day I ran out of them and didn't feel like running to the store to get more so we put her to bed that night without one and she stayed dry. We decided then that we wouldn't be buying any more for her. Now we are at the same point with my son, I haven't actually ran out of them, but he fell asleep downstairs one night and we didn't want to fight him to get a diaper on him for bed so we let him go to bed in his underwear. He stayed dry as well, so we are reserving the few pullups that we still have left for a road trip should we decide to take one.

I never thought to look at it that way...my daughter when she was sick was putting herself to bed during the day with no daiper on & she has stayed dry...at day care, she wet herself when her teacher forgot to put a daiper on her...she is fully toilet trained during the day but I'm still not sure about the night time.

With my girls I waited until they were waking for a good two weeks and their nappywas dry every morning, eldest she toilet trained at 2yrs 8 months and was dry day and night straight away put nappieson at night for a few weeks realised she was dry so stopped. Youngest was dry during day at 2.5 years but not at night until 3.4years, she suddenly started waking up for a wee and nappy was dry in the morning waited a couple of weeks and then took nappies away.
Ive never had either of them wet the bed and I really do think waiting until their nappies are dry in themorning is the best way to go, lets not forget bedwetting is common until 6 years of age so dont worry too much for now.

Thanks for the tips...I know my daughter hasn't had a dry nappy for a full 2 weeks in a row but not sure if she's wetting her nappy in the morning or not...I keep forgetting about the bed wetting till age 6 or 7...thanks

This is exactly my dilema at the minute. My daughter is 3 also and she is very good during the day, she doesn't have accidents, even if we are out in town shopping or at the supermarket etc. She does wear a pullup at night time for bed and some days she does wake up dry and others she don't, but i am not completely sure as to wether she has wet it whilst she's asleep or wether she has done it when she wakes up in the morning. It must be a little confusing for them to wear pullups though and make this night time process last longer than usual. Or am I just making excuses and find reason? I really have no idea, confused.com comes to mind lol.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who should belong to confused.com lol. I guess we will work it out one day. My daughter is the samw as yours...I'm not sure if she wets herself in her sleep or in the morning on the mornings that she's wet.
