After the short vacation (if you call feb-june a short vacation)I am officially going back to the office. Although it is a family owned business I trat it as if I am just a mere employee that means I go to work early like everyone else and go home late than other employees.
I know I receive salary from my physical job but I have grown to love my online job. I really like working on my PJ and not be restricted with time. I love my virtual office since I started doing it. I make the same amount and depending on how much I work I get even more each month. I understand that my salary from both combined would be 2-3x more.
I just don't know what's with me. But I really feel like I just wanna work at home just like this. But knowing my parents this would be inexcusable. How about you which would you choose the physical office job or online job?

There are pros and cons in working online and working in an office job.But if ever you will like that you are the one handling your time you can work online.Just like me as of now I choose to work online.
I am a psychiatric nurse by profession,I quit my job last May 2010, now I am working online as virtual assistant, nurse consultant online and doing some transcription jobs.I enjoy it and it pays good also.:):)

Hi elle,
I am a nurse too but I love the online job and even the office job better than working in the hospital especially here in our country where nurses are overworked and underpaid! Don't get me wrong nursing is a very fulfilling and respectable job however we cannot deny that we also need to meet our personal needs per Maslow's Heirarchy of needs. What happens though especially when you work in private hospitals is that you paid more studying nursing than the salary you are receiving. The stress from taking care of your patients to the stress of having to make both ends meet with a meager salary equals burnout. Been through that and that's what made me decide to give up nursing.
I earned more working in call center and now with the office job and my online job. Compared to the meager 5000 pesos net pay I take home every month which would not be enough to pay for the rent! It is hard to make a budget when even before yo start it is already a deficit lol.
By the way temm me more about your nurse consultancy thing. I am interested to do some medical transcription job but do not know whic site is legitimate and which is not. Could you please recommend? How does that work?
Thanks.

Thanks Elle for the help. I will send them my resume soon. I bet working from home opposed to going to the hospital everyday is a relief right? Lol would appreciate the extra income as there are advocacies and charities I support. As well as siblings to help out. Thanks again Elle.

Since I am disabled and confined to bed much of my day, online is best for me. I just wish I could make enough money online to support myself. I've been looking for a telecommute job but so far can't seem to find anything that I can hire onto permanently. I am so jealous of you! heehee

there are a lot of telecommute jobs and I have been hired through freelancer.com there is odesk and other reliable sites for everyone. Do not give up sometimes it seems like some jobs are hard to find but then out of the blue something comes up and it is a good break. Hope you get your break soon.

Thank you. I was registered with freelancer and odesk as well as elance but gave up on them after trying to find work there. They are just too competitive for me and I fear I'm a bit out of practice when it comes to job-hunting.

Having is virtual office is great. There will be a time in future when there will be no physical offices. All will work from their own homes. All will live in virtual world. Even i don't like going to another place where my office is. There is so much wastage of time and energy as well as money in traveling. Also the company has to pay the rent for the place occupied as office. There are lot of disadvantages of working in a physical office. This concept of working in a physical place will soon become out dated and there will be no physical offices around probably in few years. it would be so nice to be working from where you are. You can also go for a touring at places with your laptop and work from any part of the world. i think soon companies should automate their work and provide their employees with laptops that they can carry with them where ever they go so that they can work from there. There is no hassle in working from home. You have no problem of traveling and no worries of reaching late to office. It would of lot of convenience to the employer as well as employees. Even if some one is starting some new business that involves a certain financial service, he can make some arrangements to serve online. This will help save a lot of paper work. Even salary of their employees can be paid online. The work done would be very fast and would be done in minutes. In India many companies and organizations are still practicing the old method of having lot of paper work. They have huge number of employees who travel from far distances to their premises and work for many hours writing stuff on the paper. This leads to lot of physical files getting piled up. These files need to be stored some where. So the space is also wasted in storing them. Also if at all there is some fire or any other natural calamity then there is chance of losing all the data stored in these files. Whereas if there is a virtual office then all the data can be stored virtually and can be available anywhere any time at your convenience. So to make a long story short, I would always prefer working online.

There will always be pros and cons in telecommuting. It is a great way to earn a living frankly speaking but physical offices would not be completely outdated. Let's say for example when you need your phone fixed the line man would have to go to your house and they need to be in the office to do this job. Perhaps accounting jobs, it jobs, and some other internet related jobs could be done through telecommuting but those that work in the supermarket or the grocery stores they still need to come to the shop to get things done like inventory and stocking etc.

I think one must have office job. A permanent sort of office job. and online job would be sort of addons. That you can do at anytime. Also there would be much things to leann in office job than in the online job.

well in terms of learning I guess it's pretty much the same. I guess it would be the personal interaction vs. virtual interaction. I know an office job is permanent (that's if you do not get fired or anything) and it gives you a steady flow of monthly income but in my case I make the same and depending on the times I work I even get more. It has always a dream for me to work anywhere anytime. Like if I go on vacation I still can enjoy without sacrificing making money because I take it with me anywhere.

I prefer online job since i will be able to have more time with my children and you can select your time to work. However, i find it quite difficult for me as i need to pay an amount to be able to register. Can you help me get an online job without spending money as i really need to have an extra income to support for the education of my children. The salary i get from my office job is not enough, thus, i need to have other source of income, but, what i noticed from the online job is that you got to have a credit card to pay for an amount to register. please help me. thanks a lot and God bless.

If possible, both? It is always a good thing to have a job at home online and have an office work. But it takes time to handle both. Especially when your not used to work 2 jobs at the same time. Because for sure after work at the office you would really get tired when your home. what about when your still the one who cooks and wash dishes and all that. But i think its the matter of handling your time wisely and productively. it depends to a person if he/she can handle doing things at the same time.

That's what I am most concerned about. Though I live with my folks and need not to wash and do dishes, the office job is draining especially if you have to manage people and do your stuff at the office by the time you get home you are just drained. I wish I could do both but I know in the long run I have to choose just one.

I am on Disability so the bit of Money I do make on the Net is what I class as my Treat money, so every other Month I can treat myself to something
I guess if I could get an online Job that would earn me enough to live I might be tempted to earn online but I did enjoy my Job that I did before I became to Ill to work

I know I would probably feel differently eventually, but I would prefer to have an office job. The last job I had, I loved coming into work every day. I mean it wasn't an easy job, and there were problems, but I love the interaction. Because of my health, I don't really see a lot of people in my every day life. An office job would at least get me out and around other people. I miss that.

I understand it is great to socialize with people you work with and if you have a good working relationship it is very enjoyable. I happen to love the quiet time working infront of the pc and make some money and then go out whenever I want and work whatever time I want, I do not have to keep minding about being late. I love the work at your own pace kind of thing.

I like both, but I prefer the online job. I wish I could have an office job but I'm old and all they want to give me is a janitorial job. The online job, you can do your job and not be judged. For some people, no matter how hard they work or how good of a job they do on a physical job, they still aren't good enough.

Hi candy!
I understand what you mean. As they all say some good things never last. One good thing that you should do is stick to both. You will never know you might really need some cash and saving for rainy days could be a great help. I hope you would really be able to choose which one really matters. As for me if given the chance i would go for both It sounds selfish but you will never know when you need money most and your not ready.

well it depends on the opportunities lies in it. If you think working in office is better career, then be serious on it. If you think, you don't need to work anymore because you have many investment online, the forget everything office, concentrate on your online job. For me, i will choose both. While the office job is my main concern and online job will the complementary job for me. In other words, i do online job in order to make extra cash.

I get your line of thinking about doing both... I thought the same too but I guess the vacation got me all lazy! Spending more time in the office means less time on the net for my online jobs. But I'll see how things go, I'll go back to the office and then do my online job and other money earning sites. Wish I still have a lot of strength left to last me to do my online job. One thing I love about this is that it is tax free!

I usualy use to think that a office job is perfect for me. But the problems in the last year with the competitions in the companies, stress to lose your job and all the efforts : hours non-paid, means collegues make me serach methods to leran money online, and even the office job give me the salary i hope i have another job : onine job. So the answer is: both of them are necessary. Don't think that i am a workalhoolik person.

If I can have online opportunities that allows me to earn as much as or more than what my current office job pays, and I see the prospect of regularly being able to earn as much, I will definitely choose to stay home. I'd love to hear about the opportunities that you're taking advantage of. :)

I used to always think the best jobs you could get were in an office. With all the advancements of modern technology, job situations and goals sometimes change. There are so many online career choices out there for us now. The possibilities are endless. Some online jobs are self employed. It is a good feeling to make money for yourself that is not lining someone else's pockets. I definitely choose on line jobs.

I'll go with my office job. I earn quite decent in my regular job and I'm sure that I'm going to get paid. I'm still just starting to earn online so I cannot so the flow of money is still not reliable. And the best thing about working in the office is the physical interaction with other people. Its better than "virtual" interaction.

If i can do both things, then why should i choose? But you have to watch your health extra careful so you can still manage your work at the same time.

Online job for me now is just to earn additional income to top up my salary from my primary job but if this online job.I don't think this online jobs will last so I don't want to loose my job in exchange for onlinee jobs.I can do both anyway when the time permits
