I grew up in a society that relates money to happiness. For those people around me cannot and refuses to be happy without money. i've been able to veer away from their life philosophy, or did I? the question is "To be or not to be....happy without money?"

I for one believe that money isn't the ONLY way to happiness. It's known to the human race that being with our family and friends - healthy, jolly and carefree are things money can't buy. On the other hand, a person cannot be considered satisfied with his life if he's not able to reach his goals. Our goals are of course to be succesful in our careers so that everything will be easier for us - not having to think about monthly bills, sending kids to school (for those who are parent already XD), helping out family members, health issues and so on since we have enough funds. Let's face it, though we may look so happy and satisfied from the outside knowing our loved ones are okay, there are a whole lot more issues we have to deal with fiancially which we tend to just keep to ourselves XD

Hi,
Money is necessary, but not in itself. It is necessary as the method of purchasing necessary stuffs. Money is good as long as it is being spent in some good purpose. Money is inanimate bunch of papers and metal coins. It is us who give it undue importance sometimes. Money is not to be blamed. We are responsible for chasing money like this. Money can assist you to reach a certain goal. But in the process we often forget that and take the mere method as our aim. Money thus raises confusion. With a complete understanding of this people may become less vulnerable to greed and lust. Happiness is totally independent on money or any other external factor. You can be happy even if you are poor. You can be contented even when you are alone and nobody cares for you. You become happy when you choose to become happy. Money, of course can bring to you all the pleasures of the world, but does that bring you happiness as well? No, I don't think so. Thanks.
God bless you

money is what we need in every little things that we do and plan to do. and indeed money is for us a necessity for no one cant live and survive without money. happiness coming from having money is somehow temporary and that we usually crave for more. But to some it all, we feel happy because of it, just that, only temporary.
I have known someone who is indeed lucky to have plenty of money but says money cant buy love. money can make her like him but cant make her to love him. in his situation, money don't guaranty happiness. I wonder if this man im telling happens to be poor, them the more that he cant make that certain "her" to love him. So i guess happiness depends upon how we value things and how we give importance to contentment and acceptance

Money is only the Means not the End..of course, happiness is possible without money... I am businessman by trade.. everything I do in work translates to money.. but often times the Best things in Life are free.. like Sleep, your wife's loyalty and love, time with your children, fame and recognition...in fact, I can live life in contentment with less money.
