Well, the game didn`t have any impact to Brazil as they already qualified to the second round, and Portugal would likely to go to the 2nd round unless Ivory Coast won at least 8-0 over North Korea. In fact, Ivory coast won 3-0, and Brazil vs Portugal only goalless draw. Do you think that both teams-consist of great players like CR,Robinho,Maicon,Luis Fabiano, Tiago-could have scored a goal? They wasted so many good opportunity, and many people felt disappointed with that game. What do you think?thank you for responding

Very disappointing. I am sure everyone could see Dunga jumping around in fury in the second half. I am not sure if Brazil is playing for a draw, but they look like a side without creativity. That is of course due to the fact that Kaka and Robinho isn't playing, but the rest of the Brazil team, apart from the impressive Lucio, looked poor.

Yes,I totally agree with your views.Brazil is lack of creativity if without Kaka and Robinho, each player just like a separate soldier instead of a whole team.I think spirits of union and sacrifice are still vital for a football team to win.

Yes,the game yesterday was so boring that I almost fell asleep during competition time.Maybe the result is acceptable for both of fans from two countries as well as two countries . Because this game is exactly a focus all over the world,so two sides just performed conservatively to avoid any loss.Whatever, any tiny mistake can cause a team out of the games, resultingly it is difficult for us to see a exciting and passionful competition .

Yeah, I was disappointed, too. I still think Brazil is going to win the Cup, but you could argue that they could have been more impressive in the group stage. They even had the most trouble with North Korea! (That said, I really do think NK played much better in their first match than they did later on.) I suppose the biggest problem was the lack of motivation both teams felt as they both figured they'd be going on to the knockout stage.

At the world cup like this, no team should be look down on, all teams wish to win all matches, Brazil - Portugal goalless draw was not a disappointment, though Brazilian team has many goal chances wasted.
Anything can happen in the game of soccer, but i see Brazilian team going far in this World Cup.

Most people said it was such a boring game..and unfortunately Portugal scored goals only when it beat North Korea, and now Portugal will face Spain on the 2nd round, which won`t be easy for CR etc to win. Either Brazil or Argentina will win, but I see that Uruguay is shining, with Forlan,Luis Suarez, Cavani. They have never shown great achievement since they won the Cup in 1950, yeah only Copa winner in 1995.

actually the match was a brazil vs BRAZIL match. because Portugal is known as the Brazil of Europe. their play are very similar to Brazil. both countries even talk same language.
so when 2 equal power countries are clashing the result is to be a draw .
even though it was a disappoinment to me. i thought brazil will win for even a singla goal .but the lack of kaka was extremly seen in the field .and both of them missed some great chances also. Any way the match didn't made much impact on me because i am the fan of argentina .
GO GO ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Go Messi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am portuguese, for the records, Brazil was founded on 1500 by portuguese people, the game itself was boring, but knowing that Portugal and Brazil are brothers, I wouldnt want any of them to win, I guess it was better a draw, they both passed anyway so, why make one of them sad at all?

I think with both teams virtually assured of a spot in the next round, they were not really going for the kill. Also I felt that the referee killed the contest by showing so many yellow cards in the first half. That meant in the second both teams were more interested in avoiding yellow cards instead of playing the game to win. But these kind of games are over now as now it is going to be the knockouts and you gotta win to move on from here on.
Cheers!

jasmeena,
Frankly, the match is not forthcoming with goals and I am sure all of us can understand it. I mean both teams just aren't about to explode into some injury risking game as both teams are already nestled comfortably to qualify into the next round.
However, you do have to enjoy the possession tactical play and attack only when there's an opening which were few and hard to come by - which explains the many yellow cards being flashed and chances going to waste. It is just coming from a control struggling game.
I think you can notice that there is a jaded side of Brazil and will be a worrying factor for coach Dunga as his side play without their midfield dynamo Kaka which is quite blend. But, you can see some brilliant play of a 25 year old Nilmar who came on for Robinho in this match. I hope he could be featured alongside Robinho in Brazil's next game.
IMO, both teams were equally entertaining with Brazil taking the team of the match with their shots on target and had it not be for an in form Portuguese goalkeeper, the Brazil would have walked away victors 1-0 at least!
I see a very dangerous and finalist contender in Brazil, so I wish them the best in this tournament.

The game was very disappointing really! I mean, Brazil and Portugal are one of the best teams. But seeing them play during that game was really... Ahh... I mean, they played so rough during the first half and lessened during the second. So many fouls, and yellow cards and warnings. Tsk 3x. But overall, I believe Brazil should've won, why? Because Brazil basically dominated ball possession and passing. Portugal however rushed things too much.

It is easy for the viewers to see so many wasted opportunities in a game of football. The reality is that, i for one is playing football- it is hard to make a goal. Eventhough we take account that they are on a professional level, it still is hard. The game was alright with me and the draw is fine because they play the same type of game. It would have been nice if they atleast managed to score 1:1.
Portugal will face Spain and that my friend is nerve wrecking for Portugal fans. I am rooting for the Netherlands. GO! GO! GO!

I think that Brazil were just going through the motions and were more than happy to get a drab 0 - 0 draw and go through the group stages as winners. Portugal i suppose were also happy with a draw as they progressed but now have a tricky encounter with Spain.

Very boring match. The both teams were playing for a draw. When you get to the pitch with similar attitude, you wouldn't give the best of you, so and the match wouldn't be interesting.

A goalless draw between two great teams is not surprising but people expected to see more action. A lot of opportunities was wasted and key players such as Cristiano Ronaldo failed to shine as expected, which was quite disappointing. The absence of Kaka and Robinho may have affected Brazil's performance. But the "quiet" game may have been due to the lack of pressure as Brazil, win or lose, were already assured of a place in the knockout phase while Portugal had the better chance of advancing than Ivory Coast, given the goal difference.

I, as a legitimate brazilian, I found a good game. Clearly, the lack of goals has left something to be desired, but regardless of the outcome both teams won. That was at stake was the definition in the table of the 1st and 2nd places. But is was a beautiful game (but with Kaka would be much better!) and we were all happy! =)

Overall, Brazil dominated the game with ball possession 61%. I think Portugal tend to get draw. They focused in depend. They placed Christian Ronaldo only as the striker without support from second line. The depend on counter attack. On the first half, game tension high and tend to be rough. Seven yellow card were given in this game. That was bad since Brazil has pass to the next round and the result wouldn't impact anything to them. On the second half, the games slower down but Brazil still dominated. I think, the games was interesting in first half even though there was no goal. Good depend from Portugal player make little chance for Brazilian to shoot.
