Uruguay overcame a fighting display from South Korea to book their spot in the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2010. Two goals from Louis Suarez, first from a mistake by the South Korean Goalkeeper and a sublime second helped them overcome the stiff resistance from South Korea. South Korea had just leveled the contest at 1-1 with an inspired second half showing ending in a goal from a free kick. But Suarez curled the ball into the Korean net to bag a goal worthy of a winner of any match. What do you say? Cheers! Ram

That was very interesting match. South Korea play bad in defense, that was the main thing, which helped Uruguay to take the win. Their first goal was a gift from the keeper and the defenders. But South Korea's goal was also a gift from the keeper - he started to catch the ball, when he suddenly stopped... But the second goal for Uruguay was incredible, the goalkeeper hadn't got a chance to save that shot. The Asians haven't got good forwards - they've missed so many situation - if they scored them, they would beat with 2-3 goals. The fault is their.

Yes, the sloppy first goal conceded by South Korea effectively cost them the match. Cheers! Ram

I watched the match and actually South Korean also play good. They have many chances. I think they were unlucky. If they have a good striker like Honda at Japan, I think South Korea can win the game.

Yes, the difference between the two teams was the quality of the strikers. Cheers! Ram

Hi ram yeah I totally agree with you that the first goal is a resulted from the mistake commited by the Korean goalkeeper. You can't expect a World Cup Keeper to miss a ball like he did. However credit must be given to Suarez as he followed that ball till the very end and finally managed to score the goal.It is truly an oppurtunistic goal. However the second goal scored by Suarez is absolutely world class and I don't think that there is any goalkeeper in the world who could have prevented that from going in.In between the two gaols you are right that Korea dominated the game for a substantial lenght of time. What surprised me is the tactics employed by the Uruguay side. They entered into a shell and allowed the Koreans space and room to move the ball around.Uruguay were trying to defend their slender one goal advantage may be due to the fact that they hadn't conceded any goal before this match and so they were confident that Korea won't be able to score against them. For me that is wrong tactics and they almost paid the price when Korea equalised.Korea tried their best but Uruguay was too strong for them. However the Koreans can return with their heads held high.

I think that was the difference between the two teams. In Suarez and Forlan Uruguay have two players who can get you the goals and who are clinical in front of the goal. But for Korea, the strikers are not as clinical in front of the goal. They are more dangerous only from the set plays, but not from open play!! Cheers! Ram

Yes, first goal was a mistake from the korean goalie, but the second one from Suarez was sublime, good enough to win any match. Cheers! Ram
