As you all know for the last 6 months my little Gissi has been sick and I have tried everything, paid a fortune to Vets and still the little Fellow would not pick up
I then phoned my Friend who is a Dog Breeder and shows them and loves her Dogs to bits, she has done courses and researches on Dogs
She then advised me what to do and it was something I had asked the Vets about to and they said no it is not that
Well it was, it was Gissi's Food, Tin Food contains poison for our Babies no matter what the make
All my previous Dogs always got dried Food but Gissi would not eat it so I had to relent to the Tin Food
For the first 4 years that seemed fine, but well my Friend told me she believes it is the food and suggested I put Gissi on Fresh Meat which can be bought in Pet Stores Frozen, I am not to cook it but to just give it to him as it is once it is defrosted so I did that straight away
The first 3 Days Gisi would not eat, I would not give him his goodies or anything, he used to sniff the food turn his nose up and walk away, well I won the battle of being stubborn as much as it hurt me lol but he decided I meant Business so on the 3rd Day he ate it, then he went 2 Days without, but again he realised I am not giving in, so after that he ate it and of course he got his treats again, well after having Gissi on this food, he has all his energy back, he charges about with all his Friends on the Field, gets back into mischief including nipping my Nose, he is just, well, back to my Gissi, today he was chasing a Back Labrador Puppy round the Field and to be honest I did not know he had that much energy
I am so happy to see my little Fellow back like this
His Skin is also starting to clear up now and his Heart is staying steady even though I was worried about the way he was chasing this Labrador earlier I had to make him rest but we could not hold onto him lol but in the end I made him lie next to me before we walked home
The walk home is taking us a long time at the moment as I am not right at all myself, I have pneumonia and a Lung Infection in my right Lung also on very strong Medication, this is the reason I am not about much right now, I am lying down a lot as the pain can be awful, the breathing frightening and the energy very low
But I needed to come here and let all Gissi's Friends know how he is doing, well he is doing that well he stuck his tongue out today lol
Would you take advise if it was given to you ?

Hey Gabs,
Hope you get well soon and I am happy to learn Gissi is fine. Yup if it were me I'd take the advice. Louise's trainor told me about BARF diet and I have been meaning to research on it too. He said that it is better to give raw meat to dogs better than the kibbles or have it mixed. He said it is way better for the dogs, there are many disadvantages in giving dog food to our babies and that is not good for their health. I plan on reverting Louise back to the meat diet and hope this will be good for her. I am concerned that my baby will get sick from too much of these kibbles.

hiu gabs I am so glad you found a way to get Gissis's health back, Imagine the tin in canned dog food,oh that could be really poisonous
for poor Gissi. It sounds like Gissi is getting back to his old'energetic ways and that's so good. You are the other hand are having it rough.
Its just awful to have pneumonia and a lung infection too. Poor Gabs
I sure would take advice if its given to me over something like a doggie's
health and poisoning from tin cans. that is scary.

Dear twin :)::) I'[m so glad to know that you found what was affecting him and that he is now all happy and energetic.
I wish I was able to find what is wrong with tazz as well, but so far I have spent over 1 thousand dollars since January and still am not close to an answer, only thing I hear from the vet id the need for more tests and skin biopsies that cost another arm and leg. I love tazz, but I can't afford all that grrr
However I am sorry to learn that you are not doing that well yourself.
I have been away myself for quite a long time. Lots of things happening in my life, some good, some so-so, some really bad .. what else is new LOL But I am trying to be back more regularly now.
Please take good care of you twin and tell gissy a special " good boy" from me :)

What is wrong with her ? I also spent $1400 on Gissi over the last Month and I could not go on I am still paying of now, when he starts itching I put Hydrocortisone Cream on him which a Friend sent me from Canada and that is working to
I have missed you and you know you can talk to me anytime you need to
I am waiting to hear about the Xray they took on Tuesday and what Treatment I will be put on, it is the right Lung again that is not clearing
Big Hugs and much Love to you Sweetie

I am always concerned with our animals diets. If you were to tell me 30 years ago that my whole day can be ruined by unhealthy poop, cat, dog,or llama. I would have had a great laugh. One of the things we watch closely is the skin condition. When the body is not working correctly the skin will show it. So yes I would have been happy to try new advice. Glad it's going so well. Watch out for an all meat diet, that works for cats but not for dogs. They need some carbs.

Oh Gabs, I am thrilled for you and of course for Gissi too. Sometimes its so simple, the answer is right in front of our noses. I am so glad that your friend told you about the food. Dogs are like people, you can develop an allergy to something at any time. I will remember that the tin can make a dog sick. I had mostly always fed dry food too, I would sometimes add a lile bit of canned food in as a treat.
On to you, gee whiz. I sure hope you get better. I'm so sorry your having such health problems. Now that your little darlin is better you can concentrate on getting better yourself. Take care, hugs to both of you.

Depends on the advice and who's giving it.
Sounds like your friend's advice was right on the money for Gissi. Glad he's doing well. Now, we need to get you well, too.

It depends on if the advice was sound and if I could afford it..I am glad your Gissi is well now and that you found the cause. So you have to buy her special meat?
I had a white shepherd where we had to buy special enzymes and we got rid of her because we couldn't afford 60 plus dollars a month..
Glad to see that you are able to care for your dog..:)

Hi Carmelanirel
It is not special Meat as such it is something that has always been on the Market it is just not something People look into unless it gets mentions it is no dearer if anything it is cheaper to feed to Gissi as a batch last longer then a can of Food
I am sorry you had to give up your Dog

Oh that is great Carmelanirel
It is always better when you know how they are doing my Son had to go through that with his beloved Dog he split up with his Fiancee and he was working away so no one could look after Cookie, I live 3 hours away from Son and Daughter so I could not look after her it broke his Heart but he knows she is doing well and being loved
I have to laugh about Penny though lol that is so funny and I thought Gissi does silly things

Thank you gabs..Though I am happy to say that I have gotten pictures of her and see she is doing much better now which is better than wondering if they had to put her down or if where she is if she's happy..And she did look happy..And now I have 2 puppies to fill in my time, though they'd never replace Zoe..Then again Penny does what Zoe use to do, walk while watching me and then hitting her head on something..lol

Wow, what great news for Gissi! Such a simple thing and your vet didn't suggest it? Good thing you talked to your friend and took her advice. I think I would have tried anything at this point and I'm happy you did. Now you have to keep up with him, lol!
How in the world did you get pneumonia? And how is the dog bite and what's going on with that yet? What happened to that woman and court? Unless I missed a discussion here, I don't recall you mentioning lately what has been happening, but I haven't been here too much.
I really hope you get better gabs, and please get your rest. Rest is one of the most important things when you have pneumonia. Take care hon.

that sounds great. you know sometimes vets are just like some doctors. dont know whats best at all. ive heard that raw meat is good for them. but never ventured it. i might try it yet. as coco has started with the extreme allergy again. little lucy is sick my friend tells me but she is having bad teeth problems. so im wondering if she could even manage raw food? glad you did this

I am so glad Gissi is doing so much better! And, yes I take advice from others and I do understand this piece of advice and we animal owners need to take heed and pay attention.
I read this yesterday and after taking my CAT to the vet for what I thought was worms and found out it was hair balls..........long story, but now she's POd at me cuz all she gets now is dry food....She will live no doubt LOL
hugs, quita

Gabby,,This is so encourgaing. I know I'm taking your advice and can only hope that I get half the results you have. Sometimes when I would feed my dogs the canned dog food I would think yuck..how can they eat this. It looks terrible so no surprise that it takes it toll on them. I tried the new fresh food and they loved it so when I get my money next month I shall go and buy a supply of it as well. Thanks for the info very much..

I am glad to hear of your pet's recovery. I have my own pet dogs too and I give them human food and not dog food. Sometimes when I do not forget I buy them dog food but in feeding them I have to mix it with real human food as they don't eat dog food alone.
