Are we allowed to attach "signatures" and text with our responses automatically?

I have noticed that some members on here always add the same text behind or below every single response or comment they make. This is getting quite annoying in my opinion. I wonder if they are doing this to make their one or two word response look like they are really putting an effort into their responses and that they will get paid for for that. I'm not going to mention any names but if you are doing this, please do us all a favour and just stick to the discussion.

I can not see any feature that would enable a signature to be auto enteredas it would be in other forums or as an email signature is, so I can only assume that this done by copy and paste. It would hardly seem worthwhile doing this to enter a signature. As for the validity of it, I was considering stating that I saw no reason to object providing it was a personal message and not a promotion or recruiting statement. That was before I read Iceland's answer and realised how distracting it would be if the practice became prolific. It is bad enough when a discussion receives a lot of replies to find a certain responsee, and this would only compound the situation.

Yes and if myLot uses some kind of a word count and keywords to do the ratings, this must mess up that system. The response below yours is only one word and according to the guidelines would be removed or at least not paid for according to the rules. If that person had pasted a 3 line quote behind it, that might escape the system.

The guidelines say that such responses do not qualify, but I have seen this same person give numerous such responses and look at the rating they have accrued. I have reservations as to how much the guidelines are actually enforced.

I saw a response to a discussion where the said they don't monitor the discussions and only delete them if other users report them. I don't know how many have to report them because I have seen many discussions where users have said they have reported the same discussions but it's still there. I understand that they don't have time to read everything but if the same rules are being broken by the same members all the time, it shouldn't be hard to keep an eye on them.

Yes, I think it is yet another way to score some points. Along with all the others we have already discussed. A bit of effort into a well thought out reply to a posting makes me enjoy reading all the threads. Shame if people just put ok thanks all the time, or even worse - do not respond at all. Iam not sure that everyone checks all their discussions they hve started and discussions in which they have participated anyway. I do, and always try to answer every point put to me in either.

True. I have noticed many discussions that could have become interesting if the person who posted them bothered to read the responses and reply to them.

Sometimes people need more information from the asker to be able to give a detailed response.

I've seen this happening too, I think some of these folks actually copy and paste their hasty one or two word responses. It would be hard to make hundreds of quality posts per day. When I see a person who can carry on a quality intelligent conversation, I ask them to be friends here.

I do the same when I see good discussions and when I get a request from someone else, I always check out their previous activity to accept them. I learned that after I found my delete button not working.

I don't think it's possible to do it automatically but it's easy with copy/paste and I have the feeling that's what tose members are doing.

I haven't seen anything specific about that in the guidelines but I would think it would not be allowed if it doesn't have anything to do with the discussions. If everyone wrote a joke or something and pasted it to every dicsussion they post or reply to, it would be impossible to read them.

I just think it's annoying to read the same thing over and over again, especially when the same people are posting comments on every reply in the discussion.
