Is it healthier to think about life or just getting on with it?

I'm not sure why I have asked this question but seems like a good one to start a discussion.
When you think about scientists and professors in deep contemplation about their hypothesis about the universe etc, you can't help but feel enamored by their sheer intellectual capabilities, a part of you maybe would like to do the same thing: spend the majority of your own life thinking about possibilities and opportunities rather than actually getting up and making them happen. Obviously it is the job of the scientist and professor to problem solve, but for most of us we are just wanting to survive and make the most of our lives but we choose either to contemplate what we could do or just simply go ahead and do it.
I definitely do more thinking than acting but am getting better at putting my ideas into practice than I used to.
Which one do you think you do more of and why?

It seems there are certain rules we could follow.
Perhaps the most important rule is to be one's self. Wayne Dyer quoted "Key to Self-Actualization" from Abraham Maslow who mentioned something like: a)"Be independent of the good opinion of other people."
Maslow also mentioned something like: b)"Make no investment in power over other people." ( not seeking to gain personal control of others.)
Finally, Maslow mentioned something like: c)"Have no attachment to the outcome." (doing my best based on what I really am.)- external results are not as important as foremostly being (internally) my self.
Perhaps I would say we best get on with our life following the above three rules to achieve self-actualization.
Perhaps if we align ourselves with the Infinite Intelligence, we would profoundly surprise ourselves with what we can become a)When we are bold enough to be ourselves and so be immune to peer or social pressure. b)When we do not seek to oblige people to do as we want them to do. c)When we just do our best based on what we really are - without seeking fame or fortune.
Perhaps that's the best way to get on with our life.
What do you think?
