Why is choosing what to eat for dinner so hard??

My husband and I have the same conversation almost every night. Neither one of us can ever figure out what to have for dinner. Like tonight, we are both sitting around trying to think of what to eat, but nothing sounds very appealing. The conversation always starts with one asking the other "What do you want for dinner?" The response is always the same, no matter who asks the question first. The next line is always "I don't know, what do you want?" Tonight we've been trying to figure out dinner for almost an hour. Is this strange? How many of you have the same problem??

You are not alone in that scenario. It is always the case with me and my husband, too.We would ask the same question and got just the same answer. It is hard maybe because we just want to please our partners. Taking into consideration what they want instead of what we want. However, they too are having this kind of thought. So, instead of telling us point blank what they want, they would ask the same question to us. Sometimes, the budget gets in the way, too. you want to eat a particular menu but wouldn't really ask for it thinking that we don't have much to spend sfor a single food, thus, nothing else comes to mind. At present, I don't ask my husband anymore what he wants for his meals. I just cook. I am taking into considerations my 3 years old daughter's appetite. She's choosy. So whatever, I cooked, we all get to eat them. And, my husband's ain't complaining at all.:-)

That is actually a good idea, eurekafemme, to just start cooking! My fiancee is quite choosy though, he does not eat a lot of the stuff I eat, so that is a bit of a problem in our case. But I guess I could always try writing down all the stuff he does not like or something, just to remember, and then cook! Thanks for the idea!

Hi, cjfoust. I don't think that it is strange at all. Sometimes, it gets like this, when you don't know quite what you want to eat. Especially if you are always having the same thing over and over again. Cooking can become very boring. For me, my husband will just tell me to cook whatever I want. It makes no big difference to him. He will be satisfied with whatever I cook for us to eat.

My husband eats anything in the table these days. And that's a good thing for me because he isnt picky anymore. When he was till picky, it was really hard to decide on what to eat for dinner. Now its hard for me to decide what to eat for dinner especially that I decided a few days ago that I am going to go on a diet.

That is also one of the issues in our family, maybe because we are running out of ideas on what to cook. Like me I'm lacking of creative ideas when it comes to cooking, sometimes I find my dish boring. Anyways, what should I cook this morning? got to go to cook something.

I so know what you mean! We have the same problem, almost every night as well, at my house too! And it drives me crazy! So far I haven't managed to solve it, I always think I will look for new recipes in order to get some ideas, but I never seem to have the time for it. But I definitely do not think it is strange, quite the contrary! It will be interesting to see what people suggest in order to do something about this, great discussion!

It is normal for my girl friend and me when we go out at night . We also can hardly choose what we ate . Because many restaurants were visited by us before .We can not decide to eat what . I believe that it is a universal problem in many couples now .
