What happened if you have the Dell computer black screen or blank screen problem? Like mine, the computer overed the warranty period of 14 months, but found that the screen suddently became black. Troubleshooting found the it was due to nVidia graphic card problem and this is a KNOWN defect by both Dell and nvidia. So what is your response if faced the same problem like me.

Laptop Graphic card are usually intergrated with motherboard, you can't change only the card.

..Hi there jetykl, Welcome to the ranch, enjoy. I was given a new Dell by my sister not three months ago and I declare the computer goes crazy every now and then. I am totally discussed and to top matters off what do I do to find what is going on. My security system scans and reports nothing bad. But every now and then the screen will go completely black as you say, then it comes back on, but then it will freeze, I can't get it to search. I cut it off and when I cut back on the jumbled sections of sites are still on the screen. I want to throw it out the window. Then I get a message that 67.201.36.16 site# did something with a browser which may infect my computer but no remedy is provided. Dell is supposed to be a good brand, but this is worse than my old computer. What can we do about the black screen? I sure don't know. Thank you. Take care.

Yes, I have the same feeling, I buy Dell because I thought it is a good brand but end up disappointed by their service. Anyhow I managed to get the motherboard replaced after long querrel with them. The lesson is; don't give up, this is our right.

...Hi jetyk123, Good for you, that is great news to hear. My computer is still under warranty. But yesterday my screen on the computer went completely blank while the little light that tells you it is on stayed lit. I pushed buttons everywhere, even tried a disc recovery. Nothing worked, got the number for Dell, called and this nice man in Tech Support told me to hold the On/Off button down for 10 seconds and release it, then push the button and let it go. My computer came on. I was thrilled. Now at least I know what to do if it goes black again. I don't want to send it back and all that, I hope somehow it stops, but it probably will keep doing the same crap. Take care.

You should return it to Dell company because last time I returned mine not as black or blank screen but it was not working properly. They will accept it if the warranty is still in effect on your Dell. Is that troubleshoot result was done by technician? You may check first the connection of the Monitor to the back of the Motherboard housing it night be loose, it happens also on mine ( Dell 5150 dimension).

Thanks, the reason why I complain after warranty period over is because they already known the problem before sale it to customers. This is a manufacturing defect where the GPU will overhead after certain time used. So Dell "silently" get into agreement with nVidia to give their customer 1 more year warranty for those affected model, but I have never received such information. So I thing this is very unfair to us as consumer. They are selling an unusual high defective rate item to their customer!
