My parents always ask me to be disciplined in life. Till now everyone says that i have to learn discipline in my life.. But i don't agree with it. Till now also i didn't see one path of life in which discipline really has a role to play in. So that's why i never really listen much to mom and dad. I don't do things of which there's really no use of so i am not much into doing it...what about you?

i disagree, i think discipline can offer much in life. it takes discipline not to quit at things in life despite failure or success. it takes discipline not to be impulsive when people might do so. it takes discipline to stick with a routine that works and to be sure to never lay off. an example is if someones got a routine they know helps them to lose weight and keep it off with the healthy lifestyle they have chosen. that takes discipline to stick with it.

i think we need discipline and all kind of it, in able for us to live a good life. At the earlier stage of your life, you should accept discipline for the reason that you didn't have enough knowledge to go on your own. And for me, you will need it most when you've turned 16 years of age until you are capable and responsible enough to work and earn for your own stability in life. And i believe that when that time comes, you still need a discipline that will help you achieve your goal, and that seems to be the self - discipline, itself.

well for me i think your mind is not for a kid anymore because you have a thought of being controlled by the one who used to discipline you. and for me, that feeling aint gonna feel by a kid minded person whether he or she's is old enough to think like a kid. Well that's just my thought, i hope your not going to be offended by it ^_^

Hi, I too agree with your parents and others about the need for discipline in life.It is a very essential trait in regulating our life . If you develop regular habits and are able to steer your life in a positive manner that not only helps and enhances your growth but also contributes positively to those around you life does become easier and more pleasant for you.Discipline in life ans perseverance is the first step to success, that is something that I believe in - all the best and happy mylotting

You are still young and have a lot to learn. Having some discipline in your life is always good. I think the most important thing to remember is as long as you know right from wrong and do the right thing. You will understand what your parents are saying when you decide to have children of your own. It will be then, you will be in charge of disciplining your children. A great man told me, you are never truly born until you have children of your own. I never understood that at the same age as you are now. But I have had children and I do understand that now. One day, you will understand as you will watch a part of your life that you don't remember through your children. So here I am saying, go out and enjoy your life to the fullest while you are young, but abide by the rules and don't break any laws in your country. That is all the self discipline that you will need.

They only want to see the best for you while you are at home. All part of the life lesson. Again, you won't understand why they do this until you have your children and your children are at the same age as you. Your children then will think the same thing as you are now. All part of the circle of life.

Discipline shapes you. You should discipline yourself in many ways to be the best you can be. I discipline myself everyday. I am sure you are at the age that you don't want to listen to your parents, been there done that. But life keeps going around in circles. Your parents went through the same things, or close, as you are now, so they understand more. But of course, life is a bit more rushed, tempting, etc. nowadays, so discipline is not a bad thing.

I agree. Discipline does shape you and it helps you stay on track and reach your goals. As you know, your parents want the best for you and don't want you to make the same mistake that they did back then. My advice would be to listen to your parents and to not make the same mistakes. You won't regret it and it will help you in the long run.

Can I beg to disagree? You need to learn the art of discipline to stay focus in your goals. It is not just self discipline but also learn to discipline others around you. No man is an island and you need others to reach a certain goal in life. Though, it is true that what's best for you isn't best for everybody, still you need a hand to fulfill something. In order to do this, you need a team and that is a disciplined one which will help you do what needs to be done.

You know what . I have seen certain ahem...similarities. No man is an island. I wish there was a way in which it's every man for himself :P

Probably you're still young that's why your parents are helping you now to be a better person, because they are the right persons to do that to you. Discipline is very important to everybody. Because if you don't have it, your life will lead to nothing. Even with simple things that you do, there is always discipline that you apply that's why you are able to do something that's right and finish it. Even here in mylotting, you are applying already discipline. Discipline is very important to be able to do what is right for you and for others.

Exactly, I believe only self-discipline is appropriate. If anyone else tries to discipline you, they are basically controlling you, telling you how to behave, and what you should do... Now that doesn't seem very logical now, does it?....

I believe in discipline; that parents ought to discipline their children so as to be able to grow as good citizens. It does not mean that to discipline a child, one has to really impose heavy punishment. Parents are guide that little children need to be able to be the best persons that they can be.

In the first place, you won't have path in your life if you don't have discipline... discipline is like the driver of a car, if he chooses not to be focused on the goal then you end up late or you never reach your destination at all.

self discipline is important not the other one...
