Since I got my laptop, I never knew what memory cards I can use with the 3-in-1 memory card reader it has. So I thought of going to this laptop's website if I can get a clue. Nothing there, except it says, this unit has this 3-in-1 card reader. I went to the help desk, the technical support page and got the company's Yahoo Messenger ID. I thought it would be fast to get help from instant messages so I send a friend request which almost automatically accepted. I sent my first message "Hello" but received nothing in reeply. I sent another message, and another, and another. Nothing i received. The biggest though I have now, what if I have a bigger problem with my unit and if I need help, they will act this way? Gosh. Have you got problems with your computer before? What ways you used to communicate with them? Were you successful in seeking help through instant message or email or telephone? Or you have to go to their office to complain?

I used to run to my cousin when I'm having problems in my laptop but I was fed up with him in keeping me waiting because he always wants to goof around whenever I'm in their house. I took a risk and fix my laptop problems alone and viola I learned to somehow deal with the software issues but when it comes to hardware problems I ran back to my cousin for help The instant messaging feature seems nice but when there is no one to answer in the other line its basically a website cool feature and not a customer service oriented feature. I can feel how disappointed you are in times like this, I know because I went to and fro in that situation many times before

Hi Neil. I agree with the others here about emailing them but, first, have you tried just writing out your problem/request to them in Messenger or just said "hello"? Maybe they only answer the ones that state the issue. I'm not one to go to the company for help. My husband can usually fix any issue I have with my computer/laptop. If he can't, I call my son. He's a veritable guru when it comes to computers. I could ask him if he could help if you gave me details, like what model you have. I'm taking him out to dinner tonight for his birthday. (His birthday is the 29th but he just started a new job with long hours so I know he'll be very tired after work on the 29th so we're doing the party thing tonight. )

Wow! I'm surprised that you remembered that my oldest son was the one I was talking about and that his name is Matthew. I regret to say that I turned my computer off not long after I wrote my comment because they decided to come over early. They just left so I finally have a few minutes to peek in myLot before my exhausted body says it's had enough for one day. I'm so glad I did! I will definitely pass your greetings along when I talk to him tomorrow. We had a great time at the restaurant and came back here for his cake and ice cream, although no one ate any ice cream which is strange since we had more than perfect weather for eating something very cold. It reached 103 degrees fahrenheit today, VERY not normal for this time of year. The heat index reached 110. It was like a furnace outside and even the restaurant was warm. They were having trouble with their air conditioning system and no wonder... it had a lot to do to keep up with this heat. Luckily, it has cooled down considerably now. It's just after 9:30 p.m. and 87 degrees outside, much nicer than 103! Next week, the temperatures are supposed to be more seasonal, upper 70's, lower 80's. Anyway, I'm fading from such an active day so I'm heading to bed. I just wanted to let you know how surprised I was that you remembered my son! I know he'll smile when I tell him. He's a Cancer (June 29th) and they tend to be very emotional people... he's proof of that! I hope you get an answer for your problem very soon. I know that customer service isn't nearly as good as it used to be which is probably partly why you haven't heard back from them but I hope they will eventually get back to you. If now, let me know. Matthew will know, I have no doubt. Please tell everyone hi for me and give them all a big hug.

neildg I was off line this morning as our lightswere off here for a good t wenty minutes and when I came up here I reset the modem and the router but I guess I did not notice that one of the other lines to the modem was loose but anyway I could not get on the net and c alled my son for help;. he is a computer programmer and he calls himself a computer nerd. but my computer nerd son found the problem and fixed it in about fifteen minutes. So I rely on him and it sure is nice tho have a son do it when the experts would charge me a bundle.lol lol lol now hope this loads as my lot is having big problems loading tonight.

actually patsie, you can also call me a computer nerd even though i have no proper or formal computer education. everyone in the office calls me everytime they need help with their simplest computer problem. someone even calls me "expert" and with this, i really do not call for any help when i have computer problems, as long as i can fix it. with the technical support i wish to get from the laptop, i guess it is really so simple, not that serious. good thing, your computer nerd son fixed your problem and you are now able to get online again.

First of all, what type of computer do you have? It pays to check the forums of that computer's site. You should also try calling their tech support. I believe you will get answers from them.

it's a netbook. i just don't want to spend a certain amount of money to call their tech support which is located in the capital. if i have to call them through phone it will cost me some cash. at this time, the problem is not serious, but if it will going to be one, calling their tech support even how much it will cost me, will be the last thing i will do. thanks for sharing and welcome to mylot.
