I tell you, it's really ironic that teachers cannot afford a lot of things while students have them and even take them forgranted. Whew! Educators need a lot more pay for the effort and work they do!
For one thing, I think you should find other sources of income apart from you teaching career. It is really a thankless job and most of the people don't even see your job (or ours) as something that should be paid higher.
I tell you, you will not be able to afford a pc unless you another source or a way to loan the computer all together.
We have our faculty computer place in our school with an internet access which is great because I wouldn't need to do my job as a teacher at home (with checking papers and recording).
Anyway, you should raise that suggestion to the school, afterall they're earning from us.

Yes an upgrade will be much cheaper than buying a new computer you won't be able to maximize anyway. Just think what you will need your computer for. If you're not going to use it for advanced stuff, upgrading your memory and your hard drive would be your best bet.
OF course if you're asking how to earn online to finance your computer upgrade, you can try freelancing sites, writing at article submission sites and enjoying it here at Mylot. If you make an effort, maybe in three months you can even afford a new laptop. The most lucrative is the freelancing site.

i think u don't have to buy a new one ( or raise money for buying it) ...i say you can take your PC to a programmer or a friend or Etc to setup a new windows for you or you can buy a windows pack and install the windows by your self ...it's very easy..and you can save money and trust me .. your Pc will work like a new one

The way we do it here in the Philippines if we are in a financial crisis and we really need something. We try to find it on a special installment status. That wa you can pay your brand new PC in installment and not worry your self on te interest because SIP has no interest in the entire period. You can pay the item for upto 12 months with out interest

Hello msrosyidi!!
There's so many you can do like if you do not need your old computer i think you should sell it and add that to your money or maybe you should only upgrade your computer to make it fast or if you know how to assemble just assemble one and it will not cost you much money or just buy a second hand computer. That's it, hope it helped. God bless..

I have seen site like ebates and bigcrumbs and will start buying big purchases like that through them. you get a percentage back from your purchase. they have dell, sears, wal-mart etc. so at least it's like a little rebate. some are like 35%, so that would help. also I am sure there are programs for teachers that help with that sort of thing. I know where we are they have things they put on to rasie money for the teachers to buy school supplies and other needs. Hope there is somthing like that for you. good luck.

I am from the Philippines and I am a computer tech. So what I do if I am approached with that question is first asks the specs of the old computer, know if it can be upgraded. Ask the target specs of the computer one is planning to buy. For what jobs will one use it. Lastly, how much is the budget. I have been able to buy desktop packages for friends and relatives for less amount compared to those seen at shops with much the same specs. So, message me if you need help. God bless.

Some people approched the subject, but just to reiterate, if you have a desktop, then upgrading is the way to go. If you can find a tech saavy individual, you can actually have a very nice computer that would go for 1500+ if it were brand name for about 600 dollars. that would be upgrading the mother board, Processor, and ram. keep the same CD/DVD drive and case. don't upgrade you power supply if you can avoid it. use a mother board with on board graphics and sound until you can afford better ones.
