I am watching the match but what I am seeing is a school boy team trying to be man, their play is so horrible, I think they should bow out long again. Well done Germany

Well, I don't think that England has a good team. I think that they if the ref didn't make that bad call during the U.S. and England match the U.S. could have smoked them. Right now, I am a little mad at England because their people don't seem to want to admit to any mistakes they have made.

I have to agree with you oldchem1 because whilst the English are proud, passionate and protective when it comes to the national team I doubt there is a single Englishman right now who won’t say that we played poorly and never really turned up for this tournament.

I've been saying it for all the matches in the tournament, we just didn't get the commitment that was needed from them,a win would have meant so much for the country at the moment! Ah well, we just won the cricket!!

Yes, Germany did teach England a lesson in football. How the home grown youths outplayed the slower millionaires of the English league. I think this is what England should be worried about that their academies are not producing national players. Two or three clubs which have real good academies that produce English players are struggling to be in the premier league. Say West Ham, Leeds United etc. The other top clubs seem to be training more people from outside the country rather than inside!! Cheers! Ram

Truth be told, It take a team to play soccer, and Germany had a team and England had a bunch of spoil brats. I thought Capello would be tough on them and choose the best team. Rooney is not doing well and yet he insist of putting him in the first team. What about John Terry, England should have sent him home. You are right, club rather buy success and build it. I hope the English FA does realise their mistake cap the number of foreign player in a team. It is a Joke that an English Club like arsenal have only one English player sitting on the bench.

I think this defeat will open an inquisition on what went wrong. For starters it would be interesting to see if Capello retains his job. If not, then need to see who the new coach is and what his modus operandi is. One thing is for sure for this so called Golden generation of Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Beckham etc. this was the last world cup!! Cheers! Ram

Well they still have Euro 2012 to look forward to. I wonder would Capello if he remains on the job, would he continue to pick on the same players. I really hope he drop Terry. He is no longer the player he used to be. Unless he could improve by a lot then I hope whoever is the coach then can make a tough call to drop the player that should be dropped.

Didn't the refs wrongly take away a goal of England's?

yes AmbiePam, however it is also true that England played badly and by a team which is thought to be lack of experience. Capello could learn a few things about courage from loew. For he dare bring a branch of youngster and beaten a group of seasoned professional whose world cups dreams are now what it is. Just a dream.

I watched this match last night. I think that England's defense was not good. This is why Germany could have four goals. This is a big gap between these two teams because I think they are in the similar level. I love China

youless Actually the gap isn't that big but the defense if really terrible. The goals are duplicated copy, The german run down the flank, pass to another player on the other flank who is wide open and you have a goal. Both flanks are expose.

It pains me to say it but Germany deserved that win, they out played the England team which lets be frank never really turned up to the tournament. There needs to be a long hard look at what happened to the England team because I don't feel it's a single problem. Tactics, use of substitutes, injured players, burnt out players after a long season - the list of reasons as to why England didn't perform as expected is a long one and for the team to succeed in the future need to be examined and acted upon rather than just using them as excuses.

Football needs to be taken right back to the grass roots here, let's train up some good young ENGLISH talent instead of paying millions to all the foreign players who are so predominant in our teams. We always seem to rely on one man - it used to be Beckham, recently Rooney when that one player is injured it seems to be that the whole team falls apart. We need a good strong reservoir of players for our manager (and lets make them English too please)to choose from!

Praise that we see in world this one is the decadence of the European football, except Holland and Germany the rest they look like beginners. England was never in this one world, was a disaster.

MDG2211 I think there is still Spain, they did pretty well and Portugal did not do too badly either. I think we are just disappointed that this 3 formers powerhouse (so called) for failing to performed up to expectations.

Oh yes, Germany did outplay England though I wasn’t expecting such big difference…the 2nd goal I think should have gone England’s way (maybe divine justice for ’66). I was reading a pre-match review by Beckenbauer where he was predicting a German victory (and an English drubbing) by saying that too much of EPL has been the bane of English football…too much money and dependency on foreign recruits at the expense of nurturing home talent, the players are getting over-exposed and exhausted...also the German team is much younger…food for thoughts maybe???!!!

They are totally outplay less the less 20 min of the first half. To be honest if the Germans were more lethal, the score line would have be wider. The defense was not a unit. More often then not they are going for the same ball, leaving the other flank totally exposed. I agreed it would have been a different story if the goal have counted, but even if they have won this match, they would have to meet Argentina and later stage Brazil or Spain. The humiliation would have been greater.

Here in Australia, (Germany beat us 4-1) in our first game, which cost us in the end, so to see them beat England, 4-1, is pleasing from our point of view.

hahaha mipen2006, glad you are able to find some humor in it, however I think Autralia played better and were just unlucky as germans were solid that day. However I would not say German were no good, it is England too shameful.

lol =D England is already out by now!! And they have done themselve so proud by losing 4-1!! lol =D It's a feat whereby only they can do it, with all the world class players they have in their ranks.. haha =D Other than the WAGS and scandals within the team, there's nothing much they have done to beat the german team!! lol =D OF course not forgetting, how england used 'experience' as an excuse for their failure during the 2006 world, but how come the germans are doing so well, when their average age is only 25?? lol =D England deserves out and is much more disgraceful than the french team!! haha

please no one is as shameful as the France, first class in, no class out. Not a single victory and last in their group. Now that is bad, even for the English. There is no excused for them to lose. But the ball is round no one could predict the outcome. The germans have more heart, more passion and more legs. They ran and ran for every ball and every space. While not many people would agree, this team need Beckham, while he may not have the talent, or skill that some of the English players. However, he has more heart then any four players on that field. I have seen him run for a lost cause like there is no tomorrow, making deals to ensure he is able to play for England. now that is commitment.

England played very bad. Maybe if that goal was valid, the situation would be different, but Germany really deserved to win, because they played much better than England. I loved this match, and i`m pretty sure that i`m not the only one. I`ve heared that this was the best match from this wordcup . It will be today Argentina with Mexic, and i hope that Argentina will win this match .

If the effort by lampard have counted, delkar, it still does not mask the fact they play badly in defense. I only hope that the FA have learnt their lesson and cap the number of foreigners in the league, allow the youngster to grow.

I agree with you. England deserve to lose. Their performance is very bad since elimination group. They didn't show their best performance as big team which has many star. Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard are good players but they can't played compactly. Moreover, they played football without spirit. They didn't fight like they always do when played for their club. In other hand, Germany played football very well. They deserve to win the games. Germany deserve to be candidates to win the cup besides of Argentina, Brazil and Spain.

de_toya They were lucky they actually got to the last 16, you rightly point out there is not passion nor commitment in the team. I hope they would rise the bar for the under 17 and let them represent England in the future tournament.

Germany was the better side and they deserve to win. It was a wonderful football match as I know Germany was stronger than England due to the fact that England struggled to qualify out of the group stages. I think this shows English F.A and fans of the premiers fans to stop that insinuation that their league is the best in the world. Their league might be the richest due to Baclays involvement but not the best in terms of game play. The older older folks packed in the English squad couldn't manage to play together because of their different play pattern under different coaches and Capello could not manage to make them clique together to his pattern. For me Fabio Capello is not a good coach.

shynepapin101 To say Germany was the better team was an understatement. They made England run around like school boys on Sunday soccer. The defense is especially disjoint. Three players running for the same man leaving the other man on the other flank totally free. It did not just happened once, not twice but at least 6th times. 4 times the germans made them pay for it. all the goals came in similar fashion. imagine if they were playing Argentina, Brazil or Spain... 4 goals aint enough.

That team of sh1te have no right to be called an England team, they had no commitment, no pride and certainly no skill. When they get back here their wages should be cut to the National minimum wage - that's more than they deserve. Well done Germany, the best team well and truly won

oldchem1, Perhaps we should sent them to the coal mines like that the north korean are rumored to do. That may toughen them up a little. I would not say they have no skill, I think their play acting skill are not too bad, not Oscar winners but still good enough. Commitment and pride, they are lacking. I could not imagine three of the pre tournament favorites, England, France and Italy not able to show what a soccer team should be. It is left to the youngster of Holland, Germany to show the way.

The English teams need to get their heads right and step up to the international level of playing. Individually they might be the top players in the EPL, but they have to understand that the international level, they will have to merge their talents together. One man show and lack of discipline was the reason for the loss of the team. The Germans didn't play a great game either, but compared to the game played by the Englishmen, it was wayyyy better because of simple reasons, they were more team coordinated, better composed (no tantrums) and they concentrated on the game more than the referee. bourne

Yeah you are right buddy. If they had to go through then it would be like an embarrasment to the game of football. They play worse than a bunch of school boys i would put it that way. What a team. The entire team should be sacked. That also includes the selectors too. What have you to say about that.

larrynicholas, I heard there was a drift in the team, (just like France) and from the look on the field there is. All the goals they concealed was created because one side of the defense was left exposed. What could they have done, sack John Terry, Sack Rooney. I think the only person worth mentioning is Lampard and perhaps a little of Gerard. where was the rest of the team.

I think so guys. England playing just like over convidence, so germany's counter attack always can shutting up them. Ozil and muller playing vital role i guess, these young player is so smart to prove that england's defenders are so weak. Congratulations to der panzer.

icecubic, England had no confidence at all going forward, unlike Germany when they go forward they are dangerous. England defense did not turn up, they are is sixes and sevens, they went for the same ball and leave a huge area expose, I would point my finger at John Terry. I guess he is the worst example to follow for a professional soccer player. I think he is still living in his former glory. England could only do well if they start building a new squad. Leave out some of these millionaire stars.
