Do you think Age of Empires 3 is as good as 1 and 2?

I have started Age of Empires 3 and played a few minutes of it but haven't really got a chance to test it out well yet. I still play Age of Empires 1 and 2 quite often and love them both, but part 3 seems a little more complicated in the area of building and sending workers and army to do specific jobs. I like the way AOE 2 is setup and find myself spending a lot of time playing the scenarios in AOE 2. Do you find AOE 3 as enjoyable as the previous versions or more annoying to get things done?

Thank you for your response. I am hoping to get a chance this week to start AOE3 again and be able to spend enough time in the game to get use to it. I know from what I have read about the storyline that it is great, I will just have to get more acquainted with the gameplay. It seems a little more difficult than AOE2. For what little time I have spent in the tutorial start of the game I agree that the graphics are a lot better.

yep, that's it lots more complicated. but not nearly as bad as some of the 2010 RTS releases. Once you figure it out and get through the tutorial missions it won't seem as bad. It's a good game but sometimes they should leave well enough alone. many of the trilogy games have turned to a waste. i.e. sims 3, rollercoaster tycoon 3.

Hopefully I can get some time this week to get back into the tutorials and get moving on AOE3. It usually doesn't take long to get the hang of everything, I have just got to spend some time working on it. Thanks!

I like aoe2 best. I feel more free in playing aoe2 than aoe3. I think in the aoe3 strategies have less impact to a fight. What really concerns is the quantity of soldiers.
