I was supposed to go camping all weekend with my kids....well my DIL and granddaughter and I went to the campgrounds on Friday night and my son was supposed to join us on saturday. Right after supper we were sitting there visiting and the sirens went off.....we rushed to the shelter and spent the next hour and half in the shelter while rain and wind pelted the campgrounds...then after it calmed down we stopped by the camper to pick up some things and headed here to my house. The campgrounds had trees down etc. Yesterday we were going to go back and spend the rest of the weekend there but the forecast was for more rain. So the girls stayed here and we did crafts and played games until noon. Last night again the storm hit! I spent a good part of the night in my basement and had no lights! This morning it's nice.....and supposed to be the rest of the day. I am going over to watch my granddaughter while the kids go out and celebrate their anniversary....we are going to make our first batch of homemade ice cream!! How was your weekend?

Hi Jill, Oh wow, it soundslike you have had some really bad weather there, we have been basing in sunshine all week and weekend herein the UK. At least you are still having family time together although now at home. I have never made icecream so that should be a fun thing to do and knoiw how much you and yourgrandaughter love scrapbooking. Have a fun day. Paignton Bike festival this year was a wash out butmany still attended but would have been much better an event hadthe weather been good as it was too dangerous for many of the bike stunts to place. Huggles. Ellie :D

That is too bad when the weather puts a drain on an event like that! We still had fun glad to say...

Here in the UK we could do with some of the rain you had, though without the high winds. Thank goodness we don't get hurricanes and tornadoes here - well very seldom. It has been in the low 90's this weekend and just gorgeous if you don't have to do any physical work. I've been getting an all-over tan in the back garden but I can only take an hour before I have to go under the garden hose! I'm going sailing for most of July over to Holland so that will guarantee that the fine weather will break and I will get well washed by rain! haha

Know what you mean about this crazy weather. Glad you are safe. Did you have fun working on crafts yesterday and making ice cream? We were visiting friends last night and had a really fun time on their deck having a couple of drinks. The humidity began to build but I we didn't think too much about it. Suddenly the clouds were over us and the sky let loose. It just poured and the lightening was so intense. Didn't know we had storm warnings. My only concern was our daughter's dog is staying here for a week while they are on vacation and didn't know if the dog was afraid of all the noise. We eventually came home and the dog was fine.

My weekend was a blur. I had a migraine, so I really don't remember much. Today was good though, I remember today and that's part of the weekend. I went to church this morning, and it was the second week in a row I felt like going.

We didn't do too much. I am dog sitting, and we finally got the mower running and the grass cut. Also I found I can't be online much because we have no air conditioning and we think it is making out computer overheat..:( So I had been doing a lot reading to pass the time..I hope your ice cream turned out good..I am still waiting for cherries to go on sale to make mine..:)

Well, it's something I have gotten use to, not that I really like it and would prefer air conditioning..But it's cooler today and my son was over and showed me that the fan was running fine, but I do have to watch when it does get overly hot outside to make sure the fan still running..

Wow Jill! That was alot of excitement for one weekend! What are you going to do for fun?Seriously, I'm glad that you and all your family were safe at least. These storms have been getting more scary and bizarre lately. There were some serious ones here a few days ago in CT and LI, NY that pulled huge trees up from their roots onto houses and power lines all in the matter of minutes and this has been happening in our are frequently. So glad you guys all had a fun and safe weekend! Hugs, Opal

BBQ'ing - My daughter BBQed some steaks and veggies Saturday.
W E T !!!! I went to the Fridley 49er Days Parade and Festival Thursday evening. It was a hot humid one but fun none the less. Friday it rained here a bit. Saturday was nice but very muggy most the day. The daughter came out with Savanna & Hunter. My wife, myself, and the others went to 2 different festivals and out for lunch for a huge tasty burger and fries etc. We'd planned on seeing fireworks at 10 Saturday night but the wind and rain stopped that idea. After the son-in-law got off work he came over and my daughter BBQed steaks and some tasty veggie dish on the grill. Had a nice weekend. Now I am sitting in the AC in my house due to mugginess after picking berries and making yet another 4 pints of my homemade strawberry jam. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I can't believe you let a little thing like a storm keep you from camping! LOL Just kidding. However, I remember the days when I was a Boy Scout, and we would go camping all the time. During a lot of the trips we went on, we didn't have the option of going into a shelter to get out of the rain. We just had to hunker down and take it until the storm passed. Things can get miserable in a hurry when you are out in the weather like that, and I found out quickly that when you get wet like that, it IS possible to catch a chill even on a hot day, especially if the wind is blowing hard. I am glad you made it through the storm safely...

What a shame.. but I hope the kids had fun anyways. We had a relatively boring weekend, as we're dealing with some major financial issues. Saturday we went to the gym in the morning as we always do, then we went and had a free lunch at the church, which was real nice. They do it once a month. This month was just soup and bread, but hey, it was free.. and the kids even got a bowl of ice cream after. Then we stopped at the library for books and videos because it was raining here too. Today was nicer. I slept in while hubby and the kids played video games. Then we went to a bigger library and got more videos, stopped at a playground, then it was so hot we decided to visit the pool for a bit. It's almost dinner time now, afterwards we'll watch the videos with the kids.

Hi there Jill, Sorry to hear that you did not get to enjoy your camping trip. As for my weekend I would have rather been out camping even though the weather has been smoldering, instead of shacked up in the house feeling ill. I love making homemade Ice Cream and I even have the old style in which you have to hand crank.
