Is anybody going on camping? Hmmm I envy you lol... It has been a very long time since I went camping. That's because the area where I live people are not fond of camping so there are no developed camping sites. It's just camp at your own risk! Anyway I found this great site milebymile.com I learned about many camping destination within the U.S and the site provides useful information. But I just do not understand what is meant by RV camping and ATV camping. It's so foreign to me. I wish sometimes I live in the U.S and get to enjoy camping and other outdoor activities. How about you do you enjoy camping? When was the last time you went camping and how did it go?

RVing is NOT camping to me. Camping is with a tent out in the wilderness. I don't do campgrounds if I can help it. That's not really camping. If I go camping it's with a tent and a sleeping bag and whatever I can fit in my backpack. Coming from Alaska, I did my fair share of camping. The last time I did, however, was about seven years ago when I was still mobile. My daughter and I went to Tenakee Springs, Alaska on the ferry and set up our tent down by the boat harbor. We went over on Friday, came back on Sunday and spent most of our time in the hot spring. AAAAAHHHHHH! Now, that's how I spell relief!
Now that I am disabled I can no longer do the hiking and camping that I love so much. I have to have at least a 4" pad under me and something to pull myself up with...tents don't have grab bars and if I try to pull myself up in a tent, it comes tumbling down on me! However, I do hope to move to Tenakee permanently in a couple years where I will rent a cabin and retire, soaking in that hot spring every day for the rest of my life! YESSSS!

Wow that seems like heaven. Oh hot springs are medicinal and if you suffer from terrible back aches like me that would be a wonderful relief! I remembered the last time I soaked in a hot spring it feels like heaven and my entire body was more relaxed. I bet the place is so lovely you wanna go back there!

Yes, this town is tiny...about 80-90 year round residents. There are no cars and just about 2 miles of unpaved single lane road...more of a trail, really. There is a public bath house built over the hot spring that is free to the public and has women's hours and men's hours. It's almost like stepping back in time 100 years. I love it. I first visited the place in 1982 when I was recovering from my marriage (I divorced that year). It has always had a real healing effect on me. The first time I visited there, I felt like I had just come home and have been trying to move there ever since. Now that I'm on disability and no longer need to worry about finding work, all I need to do is save up the money to move and I'm there. I can hardly wait!

I love camping, I go camping every summer, I even went camping in the winter once, I do not recommend it.
RV camping is when you take a recreational vehicle, and you call this camping. ATV camping is when you take an All Terrain Vehicle, or Quad, or Four Wheeler, and you go camping deep in the woods, be sure to pack extra gas for the really long trips.
Camping is a great way to grow closer to your family and friends and learn about nature. Last time I went was a couple of weeks ago, in our back yard, it went quite well, before that was last fall, and we had a grand time of it.
Sincerely and With Appreciation.

LOL...I prefer the four-footed camping to the four-wheeled camping. Give me a horse over an ATV anyday! No need to pack extra fuel for them, they can just munch on the grass.

Thanks for helping me understand those terms. Yes I agree with you 100 percent that camping can sure help you grow closer with your family. I plan to save up and take my siblings with me to go camping in an island where there is a great white sandy beach. It would give us time to bond together as siblings. Here's keeping my fingers crossed for that! If it happens it would be the first time all of us will go camping togther and I bet it would be pretty exciting too!

I think it would be exciting for you to, to go camp on a beach, I did that a few years back in Florida.
Alaskanray, I would sooner walk up, then rely on something that can think for itself, no matter how well trained it may be. That is just me though.

The last time I went camping was in March. It went alright. We had a barbeque, roasted marshmallows and slept in a tent. On thing though, the camping site was right next to the highway so it wasn't exactly connecting with nature when hundreds of cars pass you by every hour. Next time I would remember to check the location more carefully. You should go camping if you like it so much. The summer is a great time for camping.

I love camping and nature tripping a lot. Two weeks ago, I celebrated my birthday on a nature trip with my family. we really had a lot of fun. aside from setting up our tent, we also enjoyed swimming, wall-climbing, rapelling, zipline and boating. I will never forget that experience. That is definitely my most memorable birthday ever.

Most of my students went camping. They're only kids and they liked it. They were really very excited about it. When I was a kid, I didnt like camping. NOw that I am older, I still dont like it. I just thinking about having a sleepless night and dealing with mosquitoes. lol

Sorry I have never been camping, because a residence in the surrounding trees and forests are still a lot, so for me the camp is not something special. I really enjoy the environment in which I live.
But I can also understand for the people living in big cities who do not have a lot of natural scenery can be very long for camping in the cool environment, if it can be done how happy people. Hopefully you can quickly find a good place for camping with loved ones.

Oh, I love going camping and sometimes I even camp out in my back yard..We used to have this small pool and we'd sent up the tent and build a campfire and just pretend we are in the middle of nowhere..lol We've also camped out in some parks across the state, it's really fun...I believe the last time I camped was last late last summer, my son and I had a last campout before school started..

I don't do camping. I would maybe consider RV camping if I had the opportunity. Sorry but I need running water and a bathroom...
The closest I came to roughing it was a cabin the IL's rented and there was no tv other than snow on a channel or two, no a/c, no phone... had to bring out own sheets even. Oh and the "couch" my BIL sat down and fell right thru! Yeah... that was awful! Thank goodness it wasn't humid yet.

I haven't gone camping for years, but my husband and I have talked about going camping again one day, and I think that could be fun. Last time I wnet camping one of my friends and I visited 5 islands. We visited 2 big islands called Lolland and Falster (in the southern part of Denmark), and we visited some of the small islands in the same area. It was a lot of fun. Sometimes we cooked our own food and sometimes we went to a restaurant. We went for some long walks and a we saw some beautiful places.

I love to camping! We have a 30ft Travel Trailer that we now have on a permanent campsite. I grew up living in the country, woods surrounding me. I now live in town...no woods, very few trees, houses touching one another...you can't build fires, you can't fart without the neighbor hearing you...LOL! No privacy, especially on weekends. Sooo, I love it...it's me and my families weekend getaway! And, I might add...reasonable too!
Oh, and also, I am in the woods with the raccoons, deer, squirrels, birds, chipmunks, rabbits and whatever else comes along...I have access to a swimming pool, weekend long activities, campfires and grilling. Running water, toilet, and shower in the camper, and internet! Ohh, and if I want, I can set up a tent and camp outside instead of the RV. It's just soooooo relaxing and peaceful!
Camping has come a long way since the dark ages...but, so has everyday living...
How many people do you know that don't have cell phones, internet connection, cars, no running water, still use an outhouse, take a bath in the creek, use kerosene lights because they have no electric...? Anyone you know that still takes the "Shoe Leather Express" 5 miles to school? Anyone you know that still goes to school in a one room schoolhouse? No one that I know of!
Happy Camping!

Yes I do agree with you that camping is a lot of fun! Wow a 30 foot trailer?! That seems so huge! Yup it's nice to be sleeping on a sleeping bunk or just inside the tent and it makes me hungry thinking of barbeque!lol.

It has been quite a long time since I've been camping. I haven't been camping since I've had children and my daughter is seven and a half years old now. Most of the camping that I did in the early adult years of my life was camp at your own risk type of things. However, with the youth group we did a lot of organized camping. Now that the children are getting a little bit older, I would really like to start going camping again.
