I have taken a lot of movies and converted them from their original format into what plays on normal dvd players. Now my dvd player has gone out and my computer keeps glitching up when I try to play them on the computer. I need some one that knows how to fix this problem or tell me what software to get that will play these movies. Thanks ahead of time for any help in this matter.

If its glitchy it sounds like you need to open up some virtual memory or maybe your harddrive has to much crap on it. maybe a reinstall might be what you need. I had that problem with games and movies on an older computer and when i added an extra hard drive that seemed to help. maybe see if you can update some drivers on your software? could be alot of things?

I don't have any problem with the computer itself; it has a pentium 4 3.0 processor and 4gig of ddr2 ram memory. I cam multitask with no problem and I also have a video card with another 1gig of ram for video use. I think I have a problem with the program I am using to play it. Maybe I don't have the codexcs that I need or something. The only time I have trouble is when I convert one to NISC (Which is the format that is needed for it to play in a regular dvd player. When I try to play one of my converted movies is when I have the problem.

Maybe it's time to call the computer doctor? I don't know...you sound like you know much more about computers than I do. When I run up against a problem I can't fix, I call the computer repairman...or, in this case, woman... You could also contact tech support. I know one time I reformatted my hard drive and then reinstalled things in the wrong order and suddenly my computer wouldn't play my DVDs anymore and nothing short of reformatting and reinstalling the the correct sequence would fix it. Now I have my DVD drive working but my wifi is messing up. I've reformatted a gazillion times and still can't use my wifi so I guess it's time to call the computer doctor. Good luck getting your issue resolved!

My all time favorite media player (for movies especially) is VLC Media Player... It plays ANYTHING if it isn't corrupted... http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

You can try GOM player, is very good, I use it for watching all kind of videos on mi PC, including of course DVD's. The issue if you have glitches of faults while playing DVD's on your PC could be due to insufficient resources of the computer itself, like low quantity of RAM memory, of maybe a very old or faulty DVD player.

No issues on computer. I have a pentium 4 3.0 processor with 4gig or ram and a video card with an additional gig of ram. If it is in the computer then it is in the drivers and I am in the process of getting a driver updater. Thanks for the info on the GOM player, I may try it.
