Do your dogs play nice with other dogs?

I have 2 staffies who are generally known for not playing well with other dogs...however, my boy who hasn't been neutered will play nice with other dogs & I think that is because he has been brought up with other dogs when we lived in a caravan park...my girl however I would consider a dangerous dog when it comes to other dogs as she would attack...when she was given to me, she was never like that as we already had the boy & she got along with him & that's the only reason I took her. When we moved from Mackay, we had to stay in a caravan park for a week before we moved into our house...she has been a cow to other dogs since... What are your dogs like when they meet other dogs?

My answer should definetly be YES! But my dog is only six and a half months old. She is playful all the time, she wants to play, play, play no matter who is her playmate - people, dogs, cats, bugs... (Of course, she hasn't had success with cats yet, but she still tries) She goes crazy when we meet dogs. She begins with a lot of play bows, trying to get the other dog in the mood for playing. She generaly succeeds, so the play begins. I met dog owners that told me they hadn't seen their dog playing like that for years! Even if a dog barks at us beyond a gate (defending his property), she goes to the gate and tries to convince him to play with her. In our neighbourhood there are only small dogs (toy poodles, bichons, chihuahuas) and even if she is a pretty big dog, she plays very nice with the little ones. But it doesn't mean that she doesn't play with dogs her size or bigger when we meet them.

I wish my girl was like that but I keep her away from other dogs that she doesn't know because she is aggressive..my boy willplay with other dogs but will also let them know politely when he's had enough.

Oh, unfortunately you have to keep an eye on her every time you meet another dog. Maybe this is the reason that her previous owner gave her away... I think it is difficult to change now her attitude toward other dogs. This doesn't means that you don't have to love her as much as the other staffie.

This is true...& when I'm out walking her, she's always trying to get other people to stop & pat her - she's meant for people only I think.

That's fair enough...I know my boy is great but there would be mess everywhere if my girl "played" with another dog.

I would say my dachshund dog named Tuffy is dangerous is he is not social at all and it all is my mistake. When he was a puppy and I would take him for a walk. Whenever any stray dog would come barking towards tuffy, I would immediately pick him up in my lap. This made him a coward. When he goes for his walk, if he hears a dog barking even in distance, he starts pushing me towards our home. Recently our neighbour bought a puppy. This puppy tried too many times to come near tuffy, but one day in order to bite him, tuffy got a bunch of puppy's hair in his mouth. The puppy was hurt and since then he stays away from my dog.

At least with your dog being smaller than mine, he would be easier to control.

My dog is quite a snob at other dogs like she chooses who to associate with lol this is really funny. She does not like the strays that takes notice of her. But she would surely play with dogs that looks good. Sometimes she is curious and kinda hesitant to smaller dogs lol like I took this teacup poodle from my friend and placed it near her, she hid under the couch, then awhile later came out and tried sniffing the poodle and then she just looked at him like silly.

Hey moonchild1au! I have 1 dog who is 2 years old.He weights 60 kilograms and well hits quite powerful :D. He is a quite shy dog.He never plays with other dogs,He just walks by my side and acts as a nice dog.He is not aggressive and just sniffs around when we go for a walk. I think he's a nice dog and i really love him.He barks only when the doorbell rings. What do you think about him? Oh yea and he doesn't even play with cats!Do you think something is wrong with him? Thanks for the discussion.Happy mylotting

Your dog sounds like a gentle giant :p My first thought with his size is how expensive it would be to feed him lol.
