Can you Day Dream at Night? Why?

I often Day Dream in school especially if the lecture is boring ..often times Day dreaming happens in lull moments where its silent and you're not doing anything. I am a nocturnal person though, sometimes before I go to sleep at night I look at the white wall in a blank stare..often times I imagine things where I'm sure I'm not asleep... is this Day dreaming at night? or is it a prelude to a real dream? Do you have a similar experience?

Sometimes before I fall asleep I start to have trains of thought that don't make sense or I see pictures that aren't there. Is that "daydreaming"? I don't think so. But if daydreaming just means that your mind is wandering off, then you can certainly day dream at night. If it just means you're letting your mind wander off during the day, then no.
