Do people ever add fruit to ice-cream?

This was something I was thinking about just now, does it work in terms of taste? Has it always been normal to add fruit to ice-cream? Or am I just imagining things?

The only fruit I usually add to my ice cream is bananas. I will have a banana split or just cup up a banana to the ice cream. I will also put raspberry jelly on top or pineapple syrup. To me it makes it a bit healthy then just ice cream and chocolate syrup. Tonight I will have ice cream on top of a brownie because I ran out of bananas.

ah bingo! 'Banana Split's ' they're called, and I was calling them 'banana boats in an earlier comment - 'duh!' - slap on the head for me... Personally, I don't really add any sauces or syrup as I find it too sweet that way, but it makes it look so much more delicious... :)

Plenty of people that I know like to add fruit to ice cream. It's very popular. Like banana splits. All it is is fruit and ice cream. Wait, is banana a fruit? xD I know lots of people that like strawberries and other sorts of berries and such with their ice cream. Peaches. Etc. So, no, I don't think you're at all weird in the least bit. :)

Hi, Bellapop. I have never added fruits to my ice cream before. It is possible that it can be done, since many types of ice cream already has added fruit in it. I think that cherries, raspberries and strawberries would be delicious fruits to add into ice cream. This makes a very tasty treat. Especially if they are freshly sliced and are icy cold.

Most definitely it is the norm to add fruit. Think banana split or peach sunday! Top fresh fruit with a few scoops of ice cream, a drizzle of honey, and top with All Bran Buds cereal for a crunchy, healthy snack!

I add fruit to ice cream. I didn't think it was that strange. I usually add fresh strawberries or bananas. I usually only eat fruit when it is dipped in chocolate or in ice cream.

I was thinking about bananas just now actually, when you get the ice-cram boats..is that what they're called - you actually do get them in the coffee shops on the dessert menu...

I think fruits much enhances the taste of the ice cream, especially for plain vanila. Bananas, mangos, oranges, papaya, strawberries, peaches, pineapples all these would be nice. Can experiment and try out with different fruits, even jelly. We add fruits to yoghurts and I think it will work fine for ice cream too.
