Me no I cannot sleep while traveling. I have tried several times when traveling long distances but I am unable to sleep. However, my grandmother always slept in the bus even while traveling short distances. Yet she never missed her bus-stop. She wakes up just before or at her destination. I wonder how she could do it......there are some people who have got this blessing. What about you?

I do. I am a bus sleeper and like your Gandma I don't miss my bus stop. I don't know why but I wake up whenever I'm near my destination. I was better with it before because I can sleep almost throughout the whole travel. Now, I only sleep for 30 of 40 mins tops.

Well, if it is a long distance then of course like your grandma, I too take a quick nap and wake up early as the bus stop at any distance..because of brakes..Even with the best air travel tips, sleeping well on a long flight isn't easy like on bus too. When it comes to sleeping on a plane, everyone has an opinion. When the scenery is dull and you want the trip to end, a nap helps the miles and time slip away. Perfecting a sleep routine that works best for you will take a period of trial and error. Just listen to music to block out noise inside the bus with a digital music player on which you've downloaded your favorite songs. Place the plugs in your ears and start relaxing.

Hi Blou, that's the best thing to do when you travel--is for you to enjoy the view and be awake the whole time. but that's what i am missing my friend as i fall asleep as soon as the bus start the trip. how i wish i can keep myself awake to enjoy the view. though i enjoy the trip as i enjoy fully falling asleep hehehehe!

During travelling long distances, I sleep usually if I travel by train. But in travelling by bus, I never sleep or rarely sleep. Of coures, I haven't missed my bus stop for the destination, if I sleep any time! Sleeping relaxes body and mind during travelling and hope, you to try for it! Thanks for this nice topic on sleep!!

Sleeping while doing nothing or sitting idle is better than thinking and tiring the mind. Our mind also rest while we sleep. So it is better to sleep than tiring the mind by remaining awake.....provided you do not miss your bus-stop.

Sure, especially on plane rides or bus rides across towns or countries. Especially when I am tired or sleepy.

No, I can never sleep while travelling. I guess it could have something to do with me being a bit of a control freak! I like to be aware of my surroundings at all times. I cannot even look at a book while in the car, I have to be looking at everything that is around me.

Me too tend to look around specially on the road or the nature while travelling. I also like to see which people are getting on the bus. We have no train here.

I do sleep on long distances travel. Usually our trip is at night time to avoid traffic. That's why I do sleep. But even during daytime travel I can still sleep especially if I do nothing.

I sleep well the night before and if I can I do during the journey as I really don't like being unable to do anything. I travel by coach to a local seaside place here the United Kingdom and I tend to fall asleep for 50% of the way their, on the way back I'm asleep pretty much the whole way. Personally I like to keep my energy up.

Sometimes, I will sleep, when I travel long distance. However, it really depends on the travel, whether or not I'm tired, whom I'm with, and such. It will vary.

I only sleep when I'm traveling with someone else, when I travel alone I never sleep, even when I am extremely tired. But to be frank I dislike sleeping while traveling because it's really uncomfortable and when I'm waking up I'm always hurting somewhere.

during travel, as much as possible i don't like to sleep. i prefer to see the sights that i can pass by through out the journey.for me, in that way i can know the place i had pass so that when i do come back i am already familiarized with the place. there are people who does like you grandmother. it is because they already know the distance and the time it took for them to reach their destination so there would be like an alarm in their brain that would signal them that they are near their destination. when i ride a public vehicle, i sometimes do that, and i never miss my stop.

When you work you will never want to sleep.....whatever may be. I think the drivers do get off their bus sometimes to buy something or to go to toilet, even if they do not sleep in long voyages.

It depends if I'm familiar with a place and if I have company. I might dooze off in case it is a long travel and I know where I'm going. During trips, I'm often the one leading the group so I can't sleep, unless we've taken a tour package, I'll take a look at the scenery first, but if it's all the same.... then I'll plug my Ipod and sleep. I do make sure I also bring a neck pillow for trips.:)

Hi velentina, me too could hardly fall asleep while traveling, no matter it's a short or long distance journey. I envy your granny who could enjoy her proper sleep even in her short distance riding. It's really awesome as well she has never missed to leave for her destination every time My husband is the type of person that could fall asleep easily while riding on any public transport. He even could fall into sleep while chatting with me. He is as fortunate as your granny as well for he would awaken a short while before reaching the destination Therefore for killing the monotonous time after feeling bored and tired to watch the receding scene outside the window there is always a book in my bag. Happy posting

I always travel long distances, and I am a bus sleeper. I love sleeping, that's why I can sleep everywhere. Err, I think it is a bit tiring for you not sleeping during your travel. Nah, I just amazed that you can't sleep while travelling. That is also a blessing. *I think :D
