Do you keep boxes?

I went into our stockroom and realized that there are tons of boxes there already. As in, no more room to walk around. Lol. I have kept all the boxes from the things that we've bought from ever since I can remember. Before, I used to throw boxes but when it's time to give away or sell back the items there is no more box. So, I guess for a year now I've kept a lot of boxes. From cell phone boxes, shoes, gifts, electronics, name it. Do you keep all those boxes as well?

My family don't have this habit, we never keep any boxes. It cost too much room, and we don't have a stockroom in our apartment. Usually if we don't plan to store the thing with its box, we'll sell the box to rag men. But for some household electronic applications, the producers ask us to keep the boxes 15 days for exchanging. Then our apartment will become crowded.

I only keep boxes for the shoes; I have plastic containers for those things that need to be kept. For the important legal papers like the birth certificates, transcript of records, school records, receipts, etc.. I keep them in a plastic container boxes because I'm afraid of the flood.

I also have those plastic containers. It's very useful and your right we can keep our important things there, specially now that it's rainy season. I'm also afraid of the flood.

I only keep boxes if I know I will need to pack it up one day. When I moved into my home three years ago I thought I was going to be here forever. Now I'm selling my home to move again and I didn't keep the boxes for my computer or my TV and now I'm regretting it. I do on occasion keep shoe boxes for pictures so one day I will put them into a scrap book or photo album.

I do keep boxes if I need to. Sometimes I can't as my kids will get them and play with them. I do a lot of arts and crafts so small and medium boxes are great for me to put my yarn and beads in.

I think boxes of different sizes can be good containers too. Happy MyLotting!

I keep some of the boxes for awhile. After I know we won't be returning the item I throw it away. If it's a cardboard box, I take it over for recycling. Keeping too many boxes just amounts to more clutter and less room!

When buying new things that come in a box, I tend to keep those boxes for several weeks just in case the the thing I have bought has to go back to the store because of a fault. I then either keep the box, because it will be handy for storing some other things, or throw it into the recycling. I have lots of boxes in the roof of our house! _Derek

That's true if something has a warranty you know that the company will want the original box ect. But you know in reality with all that we buy we run out of room to store empty boxes of things we've been using and have had not problems with. Sometimes I keep small shipping boxes just in case I need to ship something. Typically I just use the boxes up as paper recycling boxes.

I don't like clutter so the boxes get thrown away. Can't stand stuff you don't need in the house. If i need a box for something then yes i will keep it other than that it gets thrown away. Also i do keep my cell phone, camera and ipod boxes but they are up in the closet and i don't even see them, but i do know that they are there if i need them one day.
Why keep stuff you don't need or aren't using? Its like buying things you don't need but just want it anyways.

I don't hoard things that's why I don't have a lot of boxes stored at home. I usually give out stuff to friends's children and my nanny's relatives. Otherwise if I don't give them away I cannot walk around my small house. It is better to give things that are not being used instead of keeping them. A lot of people can still make use of them. Like you always have to do some spring cleaning every year.

You won't believe me but I do not only keep similarly mentioned boxes for the same reasons that you have- but I also keep every nice paper bag that I brought home from the stores. In fact, I am sure I could find hundreds of assorted paper bags inside our stock room cabinets if I open it this very minute. This sounds funny and I always wonder if aside from me, are there also other people who collect different paper bags like I do.

My husband used to keep every box for everything. He would put them in our crawl space and then the day came when we need that room for other things and he cleaned them all out. It was so crazy there were so many boxes. I will generally keep the box if I know it will be needed for refund or exchange which usually it is not. If you want to keep them for a future move, cause lets face it you can never find boxes when you actually need them, the break down the boxes so they will take up less room. Just untape the bottoms and fold them down you can retape them later and now you still have the boxes you will need and it will only take up a third of the room or less depending how you are able to stack them.

I'm not good in keeping things specially boxes. lolz! I'm a type of person who loves a big space at home. I'm not even fond of storing things even in our stock room. I seldom keep things. Most of the time I only keep those that are very significant to me and of memorable value. As much as possible I don't keep things and old stuffs. I give them all away for free.

before yes i did keep a lot of boxes and i use to have it used for gift wrapping, lately i have discovered a new way of wrapping my gifts without those bulky boxes and so then on i get rid of my boxes. i also use this boxes in storing my items and i always have this difficulty on seeing the things that i put into it and so i bought a new cabinet where i can visibly see my things and whoa the boxes are all gone out of my closet and now i have an empty closet. so clean and i love it!
happy mylotting =)

I don't usually keep the boxes. I tend to keep boxes for bigger items like my printer, but other than that, no, I don't. I have a small closet and if I kept all the boxes for all the things then I wouldn't have room for the things either haha. A lot of the things I buy don't come in boxes, though. Other than electronics or shoes...I don't think I have many things that came in boxes besides that type of stuff.

I have the same experience, it occupied a whole room and waste the space. And they become the house of mice, roach and bugs. I sold all the boxes to salvage station. When you sell the used items, I think the packing is not important.
