With my experienced, I really can't get myself into sleep even for minutes if I have a big problem. But I also know someone who can just sleep her worries away and that is my mom. I really don't know how she does that, maybe she is just an optimistic type where she doesn't think of what if's. In your experience, can you still manage to have a good night sleep if you have a big problem?

My body tends to sleep to escape. There are times when I think about my problem and dwell on it for so long that I end up feeling exhausted. So I sleep. I'm generally an optimist, but these things happen to me. I think it's the endless thinking that makes me feel tired and I'm guessing this is what happens to your mom too. Also, maybe my mind and my body communicate so much that my mind (which gets tired) is able to allow my body to get what it wants (sleep and rest from all that thinking. Something like that :)

Ah I can see it as my moms way to escape, well a lot of you here are that kind. Am I the only one who can just sleep if I have a big problem?. I do feel tired and feeling exhausted but still it doesn't put me to rest.

For me it is really very difficult to sleep if have a big prob. Lack of sleep has heightened several tensions between my mind and I, which is not helping to think much... but now I keep my worries away and try to sleep so that I can think nicely. Every day there seems to be twice as much work and half as much time to complete it in. This results in either extended periods of wakefulness or a decrease in sleep over an extended period of time. While some people may like to believe that they can train their bodies to not require as much sleep as they once did this belief is false. Sleep is important.

I have been away from home since the last 5 months. last week when i was talking to my wife she told me about a problem. It was the biggest problem in my life. I could not manage to sleep. I tried to think something else but could not. I started praying all night. The same thing happened this week. But this time i was prepared. I said to myself, If i have a big problem, i have a bigger GOD to help me. I started thinking of work and projects. The next day i got to hear some good news about my job and also the problem was solved.
the worlds greatest strategist, Anthony Robbins said, "When you have problems in life and if you just think of the problem you will only see the problem and not the solution, so start thinking of the solution rather than the problem."

That's a very nice share, I will remember that saying. Yeah based on the many replies I've read here, It would be best to rest my mind first and ask God for guidance so that when I wake up in the morning I can think well of some alternatives to solve it.

Sometimes when I have a big problem and I don't know the solution to it, it is really, really hard to sleep. I will toss and turn all night thinking about the problem and trying to figure out what to do about it. If there is something really aweful that I have no control over what so ever like somebody dying I seem more better able to sleep because my grief makes me tired and takes a lot out of me so my pillow and bed are very welcoming at those times. It might not be great sleep and my dreams might be kind of sad, but my body does tend to need to rest at those times.

Yes, I do still manage to sleep, even when and if I have a big problem. However, I can't say that it's always good night sleep, when I'm in this sort of situation. Probably like a lot of people, I tend to sleep a lot better when I don't have a big problem on my mind. But, when I do have a problem, sleeping generally tends to help me, at least a little.

i cannot remember even one of those sleepless nights when i have problems. i always think about the following day that i have to work so i always take a good night sleep. i could spend about a few minutes pondering about a problem but it doesn't make me spend the whole night thinking about a solution to it and not to sleep.

It is rather difficult. I try and put my mind on more pressing matters. Such as trying to get some sleep, so I can figure it out with a fresh mind. Of course, there is always some pressing concerns right in the back of my head, that are eating up my subconscious. It can be extremely hard to focus and there are a lot of thoughts running through my mind.
I just don't attempt to go to bed until I am completely tired. If I am too tired to think, then I should be able to drift asleep right away. Well that is the theory anyway. Of course, something in theory and something in practice is two different things entirely. Still, I try and do the best that I can. Its hard to get completely to sleep in the problem is really pressing. Believe me, I have had many sleepless nights, from large problems to minor ones and everything in between.

If I am really stressed out about something, then it would keep me awake later than usual but eventually I do get some sleep. The biggest thing I stress about is taking exams and I probably wouldn't do as well if I stay up all night worrying about them Maybe you can have a hot drink before bed to help you sleep when you are really stressed. I hear a little sugar (just a litte)would help a person sleep.

If I encounter a big problem, for sure I can't sleep well. Not only sleep, I will also have no appetite to eat too.
However, when you encounter any problem, it is best to have a discussion with your family members to solve the problem.Every problem sure will have the solution to it.
The most important is to stay calm and face the problem.Never run away from the problem itself.

I seem to get less sleep if I am facing a big problem in my life. I will toss and turn endlessly. If there is too much stress and tension and worry over a problem, it will keep me awake for half the night. The quicker I can resolve a problem, the less sleepless nights I will have.

I tried to sleep as much as wanted too because for me sleeping is the only way i can escape my problem temporarily that would give me time to relax for a while and then when I woke up my brain is fully rest and will able to manage to think properly how will I supposed to resolved those problems.

I, unlike your mother, have a very hard time getting any rest when i have a big issue on my mind. I find myself tossing and turning and i can't get comfortable.
I think the problem lays within a quiet room. With all that empty space to think to myself, my problems seem to grow in my head. The way i fix this is by turing on some tunes to drown out my worries. I know this doesn't work for alot of people, but alot of times a little music can be just the thing to put me to sleep. :D

No, I don't sleep much at all if I have alot of stress going on. I have insomnia and feel I am illergic to stress. I know sleep is my friend and I know things that help but for the most part I don't do much of it when under strss. I am glad I am retired and that I don't have a schedule.

For me most of all not you must do to sleep because if you can't sleep 7 days you get crazy so shy to know about that in you.

I can still sleep even if I have a big problem but it's hard to do it. That's the reason I tire my self first. Usually what I do is I clean my entire room and the closet. After that I would take a bath. I read a novel and then concentrate on something else. Like your Mom I'm very optimistic. I believe that everything has a solution. It always has based from my experience. One way or another the problem gets resolved. Sometimes though the end result is not something we like but we have to accept it. That's life.

Yes, I sleep my problem over. There is no use to think it over and over when you know the solution is not there. I usually sleep it over and think fresh after sleeping. It may not overcome the problem, but at least I am fresh and ready to think it over again with different perspectives.

Someone said some problems couldnot be solved, what we should is just not try to solve it.
Worry cannot help us to solve our problems better. So it is rational not to worry too much.I admire your mother's attitude.
If we are too nervous about something,we will easily fail in sleeping.I donot worry any problem. So I aways have good dreams.
