How does a Christian behave?

When you are walking down the street, can you identify a Christian? We had a guest speaker on Sunday that talked about people behaving with "passion". He used Genesis as a base, that we were created in the Image of God and God is passionate. Look at His creations! We see someone "street preaching" and what do we think? Actually, they are behaving with "passion". How do you display your "passion" as a Christian?
God Bless You

Hi, TexladyPj. A Christian behaves in a way that is humble and patient into character. They don't faint or fret when they are faced with opposition. They try to live their life that is pleasing unto God. They have great love for their fellowman. They are understanding to life and its struggles. They pray when they are distressed. They love God and they pray for others. They resist temptation. I display my passion by, telling others the great things about Jesus. And, I express my love for God by helping others understand what God is really about.

I have learned that I cannot judge a book by its cover. And just because someone says they are Christian and/or attend church regularly doesn't mean that they act like a "Christian". There are people who "look like" Christians on the outside (e.g. talk the talk, attend church etc), but when it comes to actually living in a considerate, loving, and accepting way, they fail the litmus test.
There are also people I know who do not attend church, and do not consider themselves Christian but are kind, loving, accepting, helpful, intelligent, hardworking etc etc., and would make Jesus proud.
But in answer to your question "How do you display your 'passion'?", I guess I would say that I display it by my commitment to be a hard-working, humble, helpful, understanding person. I try to have as many of Jesus' characteristics as I can during a day.
Thanks for your post...makes me ponder my days :D

First off, welcome to mylot. I wish you the best and educational experience that I have had at mylot.
I like that you comment you cannot tell a book by its cover, soooo true. The true sign of a Christian is accepting Jesus as your savior. Once this happens, He will guide you. You can be identified by your fruits. Passion is seen by your commitment to Jesus and how people see your behaviors.
God Bless You

I think your "Guest Speaker" was having you on! Street Preaching (as you say) is a good way to get your face pushed in. Remember- Christian Priests, Pastors, and Bishops are molesting Children in Religious Institutions world wide. This insidious practice had been ongoing for centuries, and will not stop Just because the Church throws money at it! The Pope remains convinced Religion is innocent of any wrong doing! Can you identify these Christian leaders as Street Preachers?

Our church goes downtown and witness with tracts and one-on-one teaching. Some stand on a corner and talk of Jesus. We go to Mardi-Gras and witness. So far, we have had no problems with our style of witnessing. The true sign of a Christian is accepting Jesus in your life and following the behaviors and fruits that He teaches. I understand that there are lots of priests who have behaved inappropriately.
God bless you

A second crossed my mind when I reread your comment. What do mean by "I think your 'Guest Speaker' was having one on you!"

means, he was pulling your leg, or trying to pull the wool over your eyes!
I doubt he actually believed what he was preaching at you. I for one will not let a "witness" inside my door. There are very few things in life as down-right annoying as to have someone preach at you without your consent.

I don't think that its easy to identify who is or is not a Christian when out in public. I mean I can assume that a Christian will dress appropriatly, speak w/out foul language, be polite, etc. However, at the same time I know that I have bad days when I may not be the nicest or I may curse out of anger but I still consider myself Christian. Its hard I always try to tell people going to Church doesnt make you a good Christian I have too many friends who falsely believe so. Its all about actions and thoughts!

I've read both comments and there are many similarities. Would you believe the true answer to being a Christian is asking Jesus into your life. Then we develop our behavior patterns based on scripture, showing fruits, etc. Attending church is part of fellowship and support like prayer and lessons. We are doing a study called Bait of Satan. Wow, powerful. Can you identify a Christian by the way they walk, no. By the way they talk, more likely. By the fruit you see in their lives, yes.
God Bless You

I welcomes you to mylot in my last comment, however, never can welcome enough. It is enjoyable to see your active participation.
Yes, Christ is our model. By talking to Him and reading His word, the Bible, we can learn from His model. We can also learn from other Christians.
God bless you

You can identify a christian the way he talks & acts. The Bible says, a tree can be known by his fruits. Another is, if you are a true christian, your light will shine and people may see your good works.

Hi winjayoma
How would I identity the fruits of a Christian if we were passing each other on the street?
A second question, what are the fruits of a Christian?
God bless you

Hi winjayoma
Wow, it is fantastic to meet someone who knows their scripture. I aapreciate taking time to answer my questions. Yes, I am a born-again Christian. Our church is currently working on a series by John Bevere, "Bait of Satan". It is a real eyeopener on how easily we take offense or offend someone else.
God Blass you

according to the book of galatians 5:20-22, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, humbleness.... etc. it can be seen to those who are real born again believers of Christ
