I was just reading a discussion here when I came up with a witty, yet rather rude response to it, and I thought to myself "I must be watching too much House, because that's exactly something he would say!". I sure hope I'm not turing into Dr. House, lol.
But it got me thinking about whether or not a TV show can actually have an effect on a person's personality.. or some other aspect of their life.
The Biggest Loser has made the biggest change in me.. it inspired me to lose 75 lbs.
Has a TV show made any difference in your life?

Congratulations on losing that amount of weight! I can't say that I have been inspired by a TV show, but I have been by the movie "Castaway", also I have been inspired by the book "Brave New World" a lot.

I question life all of the time now, of what kind of life really is best. I see things that I haven't seen before; I look beyond things to try and see what is really going on....

I love the show House. I would like to watch the Biggest Loser Show but after a few times I haven't gotten to watch it since. My husband controls the remote. My husbands niece and sister watch it and love it so only time I was able to watch it was when they spent a week here. If I had faster internet I could watch it online but faster net isn't an option. Maybe I can get my cousin to download them and send them to me to watch on my computer. I totally need to be inspired again motivated or zapped with a cattle prod.

So do I! I've been ever so slightly falling off the wagon bit by bit, and I just keep getting worse and worse. Thankfully I have not gained any weight back.. in fact I've lost another 5 pounds without really trying, but I'm constantly mad at myself for the things I eat or the fact that I didn't push myself as hard as I could have. Worst of it was this past week I found things on the computer that I really wanted to do, so I skipped the gym completely 3 days in a row! I'm so terrible!

Yes....I was watching Oprah one day about 10 years ago and this doctor was on and said that if you want to make menopause the best time of your life you can...many people buy into the symptons etc and experience it and think it's the worst time of a woman's life..on the other hand you can ignore what you have heard and make it the best...very best time of your life. So I decided to go the positive route....I have flew through menopause with flying colors..no hot flashes and instead of feeling sorry for myself I delve into trying to make my life long dream come true! It was the best show I have ever watched.

Shows like that, that offer real life information, can definitely be life changing. I used to watch a lot of Dr. Phil and try to make small changes in my life based on that show too.

Hey kats! I don't really think a tv show has ever really changed
me. It might have given me something to think about on ocassion!
I love House! I think Dr. House is incredible! I love his
miserably obnoxious personality! I totally "get" him and had
a crush on him for the first few seasons!lol

You know what's hillarious... the other day the kids got Stuart Little, the movie, from the library, and they sat down to watch, and I was in the living room folding laundry.. not really paying attention to the TV because I've seen the movie, though it's been awhile. Well I look and realized, the dad in that movie is Dr. House.. only he's clean shaved and wearing glasses and being polite as possible... total opposite of his character on the show. It was so funny I had to e-mail hubby at work to tell him about it.

I tend to get hungry when I was TV because of all the fast food commercials, and when I see people on the show eating.

katsmeow1213,
I am just one stubborn old self that just wouldn't change for no reason(s), neither over a television show.
However, I would be wary ever of the changes which are resulting from these shows for my counseling work with the youths when I am back home.
I am just one firm believer in what I am being taught and tested.

You hit the nail on the head with the television show that has inspired me to change my life. It is The Biggest Loser for me as well, I see other people that have struggled with their weight in much the same way that I have done throughout my life and it has showed me that it is possible to change my life in a positive way. I can't say that I've lost as much weight to date as you've been able to do, but I've lost nearly 40 pounds and I know that every pound is a step in the right direction.
