Portugal looked equal to Spain for much of this game, and had their share of chances. Cristiano Ronaldo had a couple of strikes at Iker Casillas, and there was a moment where Tiago’s shot forced Casillas into a weak parry that almost allowed Hugo Almeida to beat him to the rebound. But only almost.I’m in absolute awe of that goal. The pace the ball moves at in such constricted space seems to break several laws of physics, and serves as a warning that Spain can work the ball beyond any backline that’s put in front of them.Paraguay should notice it. It seems that it is a little easy to guess who will win between Spain and Paraguay. What's your idea?

Hello, Kevin. After a slow start, Spain look as if they can beat anyone and go all the way to the final. I don't think Paraguay will stand a chance, to be honest. I am biased, as I live in Spain, but they're certainly the best of the European sides left.

The semifinal against germany or argentina will be the real big match for spain. The one that wins will win the cup, despite Brazil arriving in final.

This probably was Spain's best performance till date in the world cup. I thought that Portugal started well, but after 15 minutes, the game was all spanish. Ronaldo as completely cut off from the game and cut a sorry figure. On the other hand the spanish passing was fantastic and often the portuguese were watching this spell bounded. The goal did take some time coming as Eduardo was in great form. Else Spain would have won the match rather more comfortably by a bigger margin. Cheers! Ram
