If your boss called you into the office (or wherever) and asked you to keep a eye on your co-workers and tell them anything that is out of the ordinary would you do it or would you decline?

You know what, my former department supervisor would ask me do such thing, to be a mole or something in the group. I guess that I simply nodded my head, and not officially answer her request. Later, I silently declined it, and she starts to play games, and I don't think she is a good supervisor at all.

Well, my boss is paying my salary so I guess I would obey. I will, however, try to find a new job while still working there. This type of environment isn't healthy and who knows, maybe it will backfire at some point.

It would be very unfair and unethical for your boss to ask you to do something like that so, in my opinion, you would have every right to decline. It's possible to do it without offending your boss...say that you don't feel comfortable doing something like that and would rather not.

I wouldn't be able to do it. I hate having people mad at me for any reason! That's not an easy thing to do. I don't know why the boss would even ask anyone to do that. They should hire a separate person to be the "Spy" of the place if that's what they want. Let's face it, some of those people might be your friend's or you might like them at least a little. Who wants to rat out their friends? Not me! =)

Decline. I would never snitch on someone i didnt even know, let alone someone i do know and work with, what ever badness they do is there business (Unless there doing some serious badness like hurtin women or children), but that isnt possible in my line of work...
